Just passing through... 📸

Sometimes the unplanned stops produce a few of the nicest photographs.

While passing the Church of the Sacred Heart in Coniston, I couldn't resist capturing its beautiful stone architecture beneath the dramatic Lake District skies.

A quick stop, a few frames, and then back on the road.

A short stop in Coniston before continuing our Lake District adventure.

Nestled beneath the impressive Old Man of Coniston, this charming village is full of character, with stone buildings, flowing becks and dramatic fell views around every corner.

Even under grey skies, it has a beauty all of its own. 📸🌿

📍 Wray Castle, Lake District | 29/07/2026

One of the highlights of my Lake District trip was exploring the impressive Wray Castle on the western shore of Windermere.

Despite its medieval appearance, it's actually a Victorian neo-Gothic country house, built in the 1840s.

One of its most famous connections is with Beatrix Potter. As a young girl, she spent a family holiday here in 1882, and many believe that visit sparked her lifelong love of the Lake District. That passion eventually led to her becoming one of the area's greatest conservationists, leaving thousands of acres of land to the National Trust.

The weather may have been grey, but I think it suited the castle perfectly. The dramatic skies and low cloud gave the landscape a moody atmosphere, making it a great place to explore with a camera.

I hope you enjoy this selection of images from a fascinating place full of history, architecture and stunning scenery.

📍The Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway | Lake District | 29/07/2026

A few favourites from my visit to the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway, a beautifully preserved heritage railway nestled at the southern end of Windermere.

From historic locomotives and vintage signalling to dedicated volunteers keeping history alive, there's something fascinating around every corner. I particularly enjoyed capturing not just the trains, but the details that tell the story of Britain's railway heritage.

The journey through the Leven Valley offers some stunning scenery too, making it a fantastic day out whether you're a railway enthusiast, photographer, or simply exploring the Lake District.

I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed taking them.

📸 I need your help again!

I'm torn between these two photos of the iconic Bridge House in Ambleside.

One is taken head-on to show off the unique building and bridge, while the other is from the side, using the stream to lead your eye towards it.
I'd love to know...

❤️ Photo 1 or 👍 Photo 2?
Which composition do you prefer, and why? Is it the classic view or the more scenic angle?

Your feedback really helps me improve my photography, so don't be shy—I'd love to hear your thoughts! 😊📷

28/07/2026 – Great Wood, Keswick, Lake District

Sometimes it's not just about reaching the viewpoint—it's about everything along the way.

From winding woodland trails and rocky paths beneath the trees to dramatic skies opening up across Derwentwater, Great Wood offered a little bit of everything.

Even with the moody weather, the Lake District never fails to impress, and those dark clouds only added to the atmosphere.

It's amazing how a simple walk can reveal so many different perspectives, especially when you slow down and take it all in.
