Sadly our dog Otis lost his eyesight in the week. This is the last footage I have of him running freely in the woods with us. Not gonna lie this has made me quite emotional making this and watching it back but he's still with us and coming along leaps and bounds (pardon the pun).

He got the dreaded glaucoma earlier in the year and lost one eye. Unfortunately once they lose the first it's very common the other will fail within the year which in his case it has.

It's a new chapter in his and our lives and at almost 8 years old he has so much more to give and plenty more adventures for us all to go on.

He's the biggest legend ever!!! ###

Lichens of Scotland:
These were all over the trunks of trees in the last place we were staying and very similar looking to the lichen in Wistmans Woods in Dartmoor.

What are lichens?

Have you ever seen a lichen and knew that it was a lichen? Not many people know what lichens are, and who would? They seem as though they are from another planet! Lichens are bizarre organisms and no two are alike.

Lichens are a complex life form that is a symbiotic partnership of two separate organisms, a fungus and an alga. The dominant partner is the fungus, which gives the lichen the majority of its characteristics, from its thallus shape to its fruiting bodies. The alga can be either a green alga or a blue-green alga, otherwise known as cyanobacteria. Many lichens will have both types of algae.

The weather turned on us today but we can't complain as it's been amazing for us so far plus I love the outdoors with a bit of moody weather action going on.

We went to Ullapool today which is the most northern town in Scotland and stopped in at Corrieshalloch Gorge on the way back to our cottage. Probably one of the sickest places I have seen in the UK. Absolutely breathtaking!!!

We sadly left The Isle Of Skye today and are now in the central north highlands in a place called Garve. Skye was awesome as always and we've had some banging weather. A couple of my favourite shots I took from this adventure!

6 years ago we came to The Old Man Of Storr. This time we did it with two kids and super proud of Ralph for having hiked up to this beauty and to my wife for carrying Margot on her chest.

Bless Ralph we had some tears of tiredness on the way down. The struggle was real and it was a lot for him to take on. 5km and 300m ascent for a 4 year olds pretty good going I'd say ☺️

Slightly more of a chill day today me thinks. X
