Recent months have been very productive in collecting and consolidating the relevant, though quite general, information on the development of long-distance observations. They resulted in the world's first publication on this thrilling area of study, stressing citizen science, where anyone of us can be a valuable contributor. Together with DalekieWidoki.PL - Dalekie Obserwacje, the article has been published, and we deeply hope to delve into more details in the future.
The forthcoming subjects to consider could include, in particular, the use of infrared photography in LDOs, as well as broadening investigations of terrestrial refraction behavior.
This paperwork marks the initial step in the scientific process, which this type of photography aims to facilitate.

Just a casual observation, made in a typical mountainous area. Sometimes, even 100km can be a hard barrier to encounter when topography calls the shots. On the other hand, the Hinters Sondwendjoch peak seems to be far away, but it's just 104km from SonntagsKogel. This is simply the summer and quite a high level of humidity, which is not a rule, but it's quite common.

The picture of Ancona—the Italian city on the Adriatic coast — can offer a staggering panorama, especially when "something" additional emerges from the enormous expanse of water.
Head to Chiaravelle, a small hill rising only 96 meters above sea level, just outside of the city, to experience the picture-perfect optical spectacle when the top ridge of the Velebit mountains is visible from the other part of the Adriatic Sea. Distance of approximately 180km. On the right-hand side—the church at Marina di Montemarciano. This viewpoint can be your first port of call when landing at Ancona Airport.

When you are going to Zermatt in southern Switzerland, it's good to pop into the adjacent valley, where, from Saas-Grund village, you can climb Weissmies 4107m.a.s.l. This peak gives you an open view of the Po Valley with the Apennines beyond at a distance exceeding 200km. The farthest Monte Molinatico is visible at a distance of 234km.

Biot is a small, medieval, and picturesque fortified village, perched at the southernmost foothills of the Alps, just a bit north of the French Riviera. When the airmass is clear enough, the Corse can be visible from there without any problems. The distance is approximately 200km, with the most distant point of 207km.

Well, sometimes in the flat-Earth communities you will spot some "prooves" of long distance observation records. Authors do their best to underpin the current achievements in this realm and enforce their personal beliefs leading to draw attention!
Please don't believe them!

There were record observations posted in recent times. It's not everything. Now, in fact, the observation from 2023 marks the world women's record of long-distance observation, which is currently the 5th-longest distance view captured.
