The team at British Eventing are sorry to hear the sad news of the passing of Mike Bain.

He was well known by riders, owners and photographers involved with British Eventing. Mike gave his time to the sport in many ways as a fence judge, cross country starter and commentator, supporting the sport across the world such as the Olympics in London, Athens and Rio.

Mike commentated at various events such as The Pony Europeans in Poland in 2011, and provided media coverage for events such as Burghley, Badminton and Bramham to name a few. He fenced judged at three World Equestrian Games in 2002, 2014 and 2016.

Mike was an outstanding volunteer and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

We have been asked to pass on the details of his funeral taking place on Monday 15th August at 1pm at St.Elphin's Church, Warrington. This will be followed by a committal at 2pm at Walton Lea Crematorium.

Everyone is welcome to raise a toast to Mike at The Park Royal Hotel.

A very busy weekend again for the 5 Star Time Team (a.k.a. Bain's Babes)and this time the team was at Somerford Horse Trials.
We were able to provide very strong teams on all three days.
The teams included Ian and Margaret Williams, Luan Morrell, Doo Rickett, Dom Major, Caroline Wilson, Sharon Webb, Carole Morgan, new-comer Matt Reed, Becky Hooley, Helen Dailey, Debbie Hill, Julia Tharratt and Helena Norman. Yet again, Steph Freeman was at wheel and did a great job making sure that everybody was in the right place at the right time.
A huge thank you to you all!
The team at Somerford made everyone feel very welcome and looked after The Babes really well.
One rather sour note, yet again, was the rather unpleasant behaviour from a couple of competitors. When will they learn that all people working at the Start are all volunteers and they should be treated to a little gratitude rather than aggression?
Only one more event for us this season, Weston Park. Fingers crossed that I be able to be there. I really feel I've missed out on some great events this year!

Oh dear! Bad news! Due to heavy rain all competition at Skipton on Sunday 8th August has been cancelled.
After all Tim Bennett's hard work preparing everything to an amazingly standard this must be so disappointing.
