I didn’t spot the owls last night, but sometimes the timing just isn’t right. Still, being there to enjoy the sunset with a cup of coffee was a wonderful experience. On my way out, I was pleasantly surprised to find this little guy just hanging out! :)

Last night marked a significant moment in my photography journey, as I finally had the opportunity to see something I had been looking forward to for quite some time. Since I began my photography adventure just over a year ago, I had encountered a few barn owls, but I had yet to come across the much rarer short-eared owl. After patiently waiting at several locations without any luck, I was ecstatic when I finally spotted one.

The sighting took place a bit of a distance away, but my 100-400mm lens did an admirable job capturing the moment. I was particularly pleased with the editing capabilities of Lightroom, which allowed me to enhance the images and bring out the details that I initially thought were lost.

Observing these magnificent birds in their natural habitat is a breathtaking experience. The way they glide silently with graceful movements, low to the ground, and their ability to change direction in an instant are simply mesmerising. I had never had the chance to photograph them in ideal lighting conditions, so watching the owl put on a show against the fading evening light was a spectacular treat.

I can hardly express how eager I am to return to that location and see if I can encounter more of these extraordinary birds again.

I want to take a moment to thank everyone for their continued support of my profile! I’m hopeful that I can capture even more stunning images of these incredible owls in the future.

As promised a few weeks ago, I wanted to share some photos of a kingfisher. Even though I was struggling with cloudy conditions and low light yesterday, I still managed to capture some sharp images of this amazing bird. I also spotted a cormorant relaxing on someone's steps down by the Bridgewater Canal, which was a nice bonus.

One of the highlights of my day was meeting a really cool guy named Guy, who feeds the swans in Lymm village. He even offered me the opportunity to feed them, but it was clear that the swans knew and trusted him much more than they trusted me.

All in all, it was a successful day in terms of photography. The next bird I’d love to photograph is the simple but very cute wren, so be prepared for some wren updates at some point—if I can catch one looking my way and still!

Finally, I wish all of you a great weekend. Go out and get some fantastic pictures!

Yesterday, Vicky and I visited Carmil Dam, and it was a fantastic way to spend the day. Even though I was battling a bit of man flu—it's a real thing, by the way! :)—we made the most of our time together. As is often the case, we lost each other for a while, and during that time, I found myself deep in thought. The concept of "noise" from the photography world kept coming to mind, and it made me think about how similar everyday life can be—filled with distractions and chaos.

I took a moment to sit on the bridge and intentionally block out the noise, concentrating solely on the beauty right in front of me. For those few precious minutes, my mind quieted down, and I was able to breathe deeply and feel rejuvenated.

This experience reinforced the importance of being present. I encourage you to try it for yourself; you might be surprised by the peace you find amidst the chaos of the modern world. In 2026, taking intentional time for relaxation is essential. Sending lots of love to you all!

Hi everyone! I hope you had an extraordinary weekend!

This weekend, I took some time to immerse myself in nature, and I found myself captivated by butterflies. They are truly fascinating, showcasing a stunning array of colours and sizes. I’ve picked three of my favourite photos to share, which illustrate this beauty.

I also want to shed light on the contrast between edited and unedited images. For those unfamiliar with photography, it’s essential to realise that capturing a photo is just the beginning. The post-processing of RAW photos is a meticulous process that can take hours. While there are tools that can simplify this task, significant detail must be restored to achieve the desired result.

Moreover, the artistic value of photo editing is significant. Each edit reflects the photographer's unique perspective and artistic interpretation of the image.

Wishing you all a fantastic week ahead! I hope my vision of these butterflies resonates with you!
