A Sunday afternoon walk through High Ash, where the Desert Rats memorial is and a trail through the forest. This tells the story of when the 7th Armoured Division was based here in 1944.

All Saints, Hitcham Suffolk. Hidden up and lane and quite easily missed when travelling from Stowmarket towards Bildeston, well worth a visit though. The building itself is mainly 14th century and holds information about Professor John Stevens Henslow, tutor to Queen Victoria's children, professor of botany at Cambridge and associate of Charles Darwin.

St. Mary's, Boxford Suffolk. Right in the middle ofthe village and quite impressive, sadly the church was locked when I visited. It was just as I was passing through that I noticed it so perhaps go in another time.

St. Mary Polstead, set in impressive surroundings with a cenotaph in the graveyard. St. Mary is the resting place of Maria Marten, murdered by William Corder in 1827. Sadly her headstone is long gone, destroyed by souvenir hunters over the years, there are memorials to the Corder family inside the church. An account of William Corder's trial bound in his skin is on display at Moyse's Hall museum in Bury St. Edmunds if you wish to visit.

Although classed as being in Stowmarket the Stow workhouse is actually in Onehouse just outside Stowmarket. Some will remember it being Stow Lodge Hospital for many years while previously it was a workhouse and now converted into flats. Not far away is the burial ground of the paupers from the workhouse, a numbered cross marks the plot with other crosses marking where other burials have been found. This is thanks to Onehouse Parish Council and the group of volunteers who meet every Friday to keep it tidy.

St. James, Dunwich Suffolk. The last of 8 churches in Dunwich, in the churchyard there is the remains of a buttress from All Saints church which was the last to be lost to the sea, a pretty and welcoming church which also has the remains of the l***r chapel to visit. The l***r chapel itself is the burial place of those looked after at the local l***r hospital.

Greyfriars Friary, Dunwich Suffolk. Founded before 1277 and dissolved in 1538, the site was moved during 1289 due to coastal erosion. The "last grave" can still be seen along the cliff top where it used to be situated in the graveyard of All Saints Church which fell into the sea between 1904 & 1920.
