Capturing Personality in Pressured Moments – A Tribute to David Bellamy & The Power of a One-Off PR Shoot
In the world of PR and editorial photography, time is rarely a luxury. Often, you’re given just minutes to capture something real—something that tells a story, communicates personality, and resonates. That’s the challenge I thrive on.
One shoot that’s always stuck with me was with the late David Bellamy, the renowned botanist, broadcaster, and environmental campaigner. I only had a very brief window to create a portrait of him, but in that short time, he was every bit as passionate, engaging, and full of warmth as you’d expect.
Despite the time pressures, he made space for the moment. I knew I had to work quickly, intuitively, and respectfully to capture something meaningful. The result was a portrait I’ve always felt proud of—something a little fitting for his legacy, subtly nodding to his iconic “through the undergrowth” catchphrase, while also, I hope, catching a bit of his wonderful personality.
I share this not just as a tribute to David, but to say: this is what I do. Whether you need a one-off PR image, a fast-turnaround editorial portrait, or on-brand photography that speaks to your audience—I deliver under pressure, without compromising on quality or authenticity.
With over 15 years of experience in press, PR, and commercial photography, I understand the pace, the importance of reading the moment, and the need to get the shot right, first time.
