A fun packed and sunshine filled day last Saturday at The Swan at Newby Bridge. Loved spending time with these total legends and all their friends and family. A day packed with love, a few tears and lots of laughs. Congratulations you lot on a wonderful wedding!

It was a long time coming for Rachel and Mike who endured three nail biting date changes, but we got there and what a wonderful heartfelt day it was! We dodged deluges and on/off drizzle with umbrellas in hand with the help of friends carrying various items. The party inside was all the better for it! Congrats Mr & Mrs O'Neill on your wedding and for having ace family and friends!

Well it's been a while since I last posted here. Nothing untoward, like you just riding the storm that is pandemic life at present. The good news is that little by little outdoor events and trails are beginning to reopen. Halecat Garden Sculpture Trail in Witherslack is open until 20th September. It's set in the tranquil grounds of Halecat House and makes for a walk of discovery as you happen upon each expertly placed piece. We even had the trail all to ourselves!

In the past couple of weeks I've been back at it, a joyous return to shooting outdoor family photos, pre-wedding consulting and commercial photography planning, and lots of diary management!

Last week saw World Book Day arrive once more, a day celebrating stories, storytelling and bringing an opportunity to dress up as favourite book characters.
Here's Em dressed as Isa from Kiran Millwood Hargrave’s The Girl of Ink and Stars (or The Cartographer's Daughter in the US). Isa is on an important quest, disguised in her brothers clothes, guided by her glowing woodlight with her fathers hand painted map in hand.
Each year I cajole Em into posing for photos, she really is the most reluctant model. But it's definitely worth the effort as collectively they tell the wonderful story of her as she grows and her developing input into the costuming.

Just playing on the beach...in January...in the snow. Freezing our extremities off then back to the warmth of the car and a misted-up-window picnic.
Often overshadowed by the drama of the Lakes our coastline has a gentler allure. Some call it bleak, and it can be if you let it be, but I enjoy the romance of it's wide open spaces, expansive water-colour skies and elegantly dilapidated buildings. Explore!

I don't know about you but I've just about had enough foggy gloom now. Don't get me wrong I love a misty day, the romance of the drifting veil of visibility and the way it appears that a white piece of paper has been slotted in behind some prominent object or building, making you look anew at 'it' without the distraction of it's context. However the bone chilling dampness that comes with it is another matter. So I find myself searching for warmth and we found a beautiful hothouse to sun ourselves in last weekend. I wish you could smell the heady scents of the hyacinth and narcissus. Em's thorough sniff test led her to conclude that pink hyacinth score highest on the scent-o-meter.

Gorgeous brothers being cheeky in the woods, with sticks! It's a delight to have this bunch in front of my lens, at first as wedding guests and now as a family as I capture images of the boys as they grow.
Going for a walk in the woods with my family this weekend for a spot of snowdrop stalking. Enjoy yours!
