Afternoon all ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป

After checking the date on my previous post it would appear to be quite some time since I was last on here, which is mostly down to my lack of motivation to get out of bed at 2am, or sometimes earlier, for sunrise and rising cost in fuel price, which hasnโ€™t helped either.
The good news is, Iโ€™ve been fortunate enough to have another article published in this months issue โ€˜283โ€™ of Outdoor Photography Magazine. This one is on landscape locations and is a 6 page spread full of information, useful tips and a few of my images to illustrate it.
The magazine is packed with lots of useful advice from other photographers and is definitely worth reading.
Super stoked and privileged to be given the opportunity again by

The image today is another from my Scotland trip and a cottage you may remember from a previous post. I did say I took more than one photograph of some locations and this was one of them. This particular shot was at the back end of my trip and after there was significant snowfall overnight. Everything was white over the following day with lots of low cloud and sporadic snow showers and if you look closely at the image, it was snowing at the time. Adverse conditions can sometimes work to your advantage and I like how the snow and low cloud have singled out The cottage.

The post this afternoon is one Iโ€™ve been meaning to stick up the for last couple of weeks but didnโ€™t get around to it, so here it is.
Itโ€™s an image I took a few years ago on Christmas Eve on the River Brathay. I had shared a similar composition but found this when I was going back through my files the other week, which Iโ€™ve then edited as I love the light in this one ๐Ÿ˜ Enjoy!
Thanks for the likes and comments on the previous, really appreciate ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป
Have a great evening.

The image this afternoon was taken at Holme Fell. Perhaps this doesnโ€™t pack the same punch as some of the other shots I may have taken, but I quite like how the early evening light was catching the tree, yet singled out a little more as the immediate background is in shadow. The distant Langdale Pikes are also catching a bit of the sun, just before in dropped behind Wetherlam. Enjoy!
Have a great weekend.

Afternoon ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป

Taken on my recent visit to Scotland, this was shot looking down towards the 3 sisters and Glencoe valley. You may just be able to make out the cars in the viewpoint car park further down the road. As with many of the images I took that week, most in the first few days lacked snow. Fortunately it came down quite heavy towards the end of the week, which ultimately covered everything. As you can see from the image, the clouds were brewing up more bad weather in far right of the picture, which was heading my way.

Thank you for the comments and likes on the previous post, and have yourselves a lovely Easter ๐Ÿฃ Enjoy!

Hey ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป

Thank you for the likes and comments on the previous post ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

The image today was taken last year on a family trip to Whitby, a place Iโ€™ve been to many times before as a nipper, and one I never tire of visiting.
As the days weโ€™re getting longer, this required an early start to get from our accommodation to the top of west cliff where I parked. Itโ€™s just a short walk from there down to the pier. I did post an image some time ago from the same trip, and possibly mentioned my early morning chat with a local, who proceeded to update me with the increase in local house prices and chalets, along with why the swing bridge was closed to cars. All useful information of course, but not exactly what I was hoping for at 4am. Still, nice to get his back story of why he moved to the area, and the difficulties of getting a job if you werenโ€™t born there.
Anyway, the view is looking down the pier from the lighthouse at sunrise.
Enjoy!

Have a lovely evening.

This image is from while ago, taken at sunrise on the shores of Ullswater, just a stone throw up the road from Glenridding. The view looks back towards Wall Holm island, on what was a very calm and tranquil morning.

Thanks for all the likes and comments etc on the previous post, much appreciated as always ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป.

After spending the day on Rannoch Moor and with the prospect of some decent light for sunset, I headed down to Castle Stalker.
Having never been here either, it was just a case of having a walk around to see what was available, but with low cloud threatening to spoil the party that meant I didnโ€™t get chance for a thorough look around. Fortunately I stumbled across this boat on the shoreline, which I think works quite well, and you can still see Castle Stalker in the distance.
Shortly after this the cloud covered the setting sun and that was the end of the nice light, but it was gorgeous while it lasted.
It looks like weโ€™re in for some nice weather over the next few days, so have a good one.

Cheers, Shaun

Afternoon all,

Thanks for all the likes and comments on the previous image ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Following on from the image last week which was taken when I visited Scotland. The image today was shot just a little further down the road from the cottage, at a small waterfall on the river Coupall. A very popular location for photographers, and for good reason, as these falls are just a stone throw from the side of the road, with the stunning Buachaille Etive in the background.
I'd been here earlier in the week, but when I'd first arrived the snow line was nowhere near as low as what it is seen here. To be honest, several of the images I took during the week are retakes of previous images, because as the snow line descended it significantly improved the background.

Have a great weekend.

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป

So itโ€™s been a while since Iโ€™ve been on here, and to cut a long story, I took a break from social media and to some extent photography as well.
Unfortunately this page goes hand in glove with my personal Facebook account, so as Iโ€™d deactivated that it closed this also.
Itโ€™s taken a while, but Iโ€™m slowly getting back in to the grove of things, which started with a trip to Scotland a few weeks ago.
The trip had been booked for some time and I was hoping that given the time of year that snow would be in abundance. Sadly on arrival that was not the case, and heavy rain accompanied by low cloud didnโ€™t bode well for the start of my trip.
Having never been to this particular area, it was all an uphill learning curve, which meant a lot of time was spent driving and walking around to get a feel for it.
One of the first places I visited, and one of several trips I made to this popular location for photographers, is Blackrock Cottage.
Usually there is stunning scenery in the background, however on this occasion there was an incoming hail storm, and with a westerly wind, it was heading my way. This did make for a more interesting shot, and with the aid of a little light coming from behind, brightened the cottage.
Stay tuned as I do have other images of this very cottage, which include the beautiful view behind, along with other images I took during my stay, and with a bit of luck, more frequent posts.

Cheers, Shaun

Afternoon all,

Remember me?!

I think it goes without saying that itโ€™s been a while since I last posted on here, in fact I reckon it was around June. So it feels a bit odd just coming back on here to share this information when Iโ€™ve been somewhat silent for so long. Early summer mornings were when I started going out less, along with cycling and a loss of interest in social media also contributed to a lack in photography and posting, despite still doing workshops and other projects.

Anyway to cut the chase a while ago I entered the Landscape Photography Of The Year competition (LPOTY) and had an image shortlisted, which this year those shortlisted had to keep quiet and not mention it on social media or risk their chances of proceeding in the competition. Since then Iโ€™d written off all hopes as thousands enter and loads get shortlisted.
Much to my surprise and delight I received an email saying that the image below has been commended by the judges and will feature in this years book as well as being part of the exhibition in London later this year. Pretty stoked to say the least.
So in addition to this Iโ€™d just like to say well done to all those who entered and congratulations to the winners and all those who were commended as well ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Thank you

Shaun
