View from the bathroom window this morning
I almost didn’t post this shot of the nice sky. Standing in the kitchen making breakfast this morning, I had seen a tiny bit of colour about 30 mins before so it looked promising for a colourful sunrise. When it got to this level, I popped upstairs and shot this out of the bathroom window. The starlings were adding to the scene by flying around the rooftops. I must have taken about 30 shots on my iPhone and picked the most aesthetically pleasing one where the birds looked good in flight. It’s a nice photo, but ultimately I feel quite flat as it all seemed so easy. Point, shoot, posted, done. As much as I enjoyed the sky and watching this beautiful sunrise unfold, I actually prefer my the blurry shot looking through the window. I think this is why I genuinely prefer shooting with my older film cameras. I never get excited by shooting on a digital camera or a phone. They are incredibly useful as a tool for recording stuff along the way, but I need something more when I go out and the whole analogue process gives me that. I little bit more thought, a few learned skills applied and less shots taken. It doesn’t always come off but it makes me feel better in the long run.
