Kennack Sands from a few nights ago - This is a composite shot where the foreground was shot with a standard Canon 6D and the sky was imaged separately using an astro modified Canon 6D on a star tracker from a slightly different location. The sky and foreground were then blended in Photoshop.

GCHQ Bude
Another shot from my recent trip to Bude. It was a bit of a challenge processing this with all the light pollution coming from the GCHQ site.

Clear skies and time off work earlier in the week meant I could take a trip up to Duckpool near Bude for some astrophotography.
I thought another photographer had the same idea but it turned out to be someone doing some night fishing (see lower right corner of image).

A rare display of noctilucent clouds over Carrick Roads, Cornwall. These are the highest clouds in the Earth's atmosphere, consisting of ice crystals they are high enough to be lit by the Sun while it is still below the horizon.

I took a trip down to Kennack Sands for my first Milky Way shot of the year. A bit hampered by cloud but still worth it.

Mare Imbrium - A lava plain on the moon that is thought to have been formed from a huge collision of a proto-planet about 4 billion years ago. The resultant crater later flooded with lava.

Last night's moon.

Years ago I bought a long focal length telescope for imaging the moon and planets but soon after that I sold the mount on which I had planned to use it. Ever since it's been sat unused collecting dust. However I've recently purchased a mount for this scope and last night I tried it for the first time.

This was shot with my Canon 6D in video mode. The best of the frames from the video have been stacked to produce the final image, a technique known as lucky imaging.
