About Me
Hello! I’m Kate, the girl behind the camera, where I definitely feel most comfortable. I am a lifestyle, family and newborn photographer living in Trowbridge with my son, Eddie…. you may be familiar with him already as he occasionally features on my social media - he’s the 7 year old, with a look of mischief. Photography has become part of his daily life too.
From a very young age I found that I was extremely creative and enjoyed anything arts. I actually found my passion for photography when I was studying foundation art and design, back some 15 years. Although I always swore I would never attend university, thats exactly what I did, walking away with a Degree in Commercial Photography. I was fortunate enough to step straight into a role as studio photographer for a large franchise company. Although I learnt a lot at the studio and made some lifetime friendships, I struggled to find my creativity in the confinements of the studio and the franchise branding. Two years later it was time to fly solo and that was the beginning of Kate Hateley Photography.
People have always been my favourite subject matter and without them, I’m not sure I would enjoy photography as much as I do. For me, the enjoyment comes from the interaction and unpredictability of people and the environment that you are working in. I am able to remain creative and it pushes me to keep thinking on my feet. I enjoy capturing personalties, expressions, growth, development and relationships.
