Mark’s Funeral Update

We appreciate that not everyone will be able to attend Mark’s funeral in person, and want to give all his friends and loved ones the chance to say their final goodbyes via Live Stream as an option.

Streaming details for the service of Mark Ferrier at 13:15 (BST) on Wednesday 7th May, at Masonhill - Chapel, run by Kilmarnock & District Independent Funeral Service are as below.

Sadly, we live in a world where scammers are at play. This is a free streaming service, so please be aware of that in the event of someone trying to charge you to access this.

For anyone wishing to join the funeral procession or pay their respects as it passes, Mark will also be taking his final journey towards Masonhill Crematorium, leaving Dundonald at 12:15pm on Wednesday heading towards Troon, passing by Barassie Beach where he spent so much of his time with his cameras before heading up Dundonald Road where he and Pauline lived, through Loans, and joining the main road towards Ayr.
If you can't make the funeral, we should be at The Piersland Hotel by 2.30ish

Watching Live
You will be able to view the live stream approximately 5 minutes before the service start time.

Watching On Demand - within 3 working days.

UPDATE Funeral details for Mark Ferrier
Mark's Funeral will be at 1.15pm on Wednesday, 7th May, at Masonhill Crematorium, by Ayr. Funeral tea afterwards at the Piersland Hotel, Troon. Please come, all are very welcome, and feel free to bring a story to the tea. Please wear bright, casual clothes, as Mark was never formal. His favourite colour was red. No flowers, please, but feel free to plant something for the bees, or a tree.

There's no easy way to say this, but Mark's family would like to let all his Facebook friends know that Mark died suddenly and peacefully on Sunday. We are all in shock over the loss of such a lovely, well loved man.
Arrangements to follow.

Bit behind the rest of the internet, highlight's from last Thursday's epic Northern Lights display, always dreamed of a night like this, the last Solar Cycle failed to produce anything on the same scale, Solar Cycle 25 is trying hard to make up for it :)

Never seen the Aurora so bright and colourful by eye, spinning round on the beach with Aurora filling the skies was amazing!

Hopefully the Sun isn't quite finished and continues the Aurora shows for a while yet, don't think we have quite peaked in the cycle yet :)

Barassie Beach - Troon 10/10/24

09/10/2024

Monday nights Aurora from Barassie Beach, clouds were a tad annoying arrived to clear skies, clouded out as soon as the Aurora appeared, break was pretty well timed though :)

Packed up around 1am, bit of a fail as the most active part of the night was still to come with Aurora lasting through into Sunrise.

Still maybe not long till the next show with a CME heading towards Earth just now, possible arrival on the 10th :)

Last night's Aurora from Barassie Beach, pretty convinced we were going to see Aurora bursting out the twilight so headed down around 8pm to get set up, biggest active burst happened while our skies were still to bright, reaching the Kp 7 thershold at 8:24pm, if it had only just held off another 30 minutes!

Aurora was visible to the North throughout the night with the next big active spell around 1am.
