Miranda Walton Photography Award winning Northamptonshire photographer, specialising in baby and family portrait photography. I love my children more than anything in the world.

They are the reason behind my business, they’ve helped show me the importance of capturing every moment as they grow, allowing me to hold on to every stage of their precious lives, without stopping them or slowing them down. I’m head over heels in love with my partner too. A different kind of love, one where my heart still skips a beat when I see him. It’s a love that you’re lucky if you find first time round, and one you should keep hold of and never let go. I love photographing people. I love the connections, the relationships, the things that are obvious to the outsider and the more subtle things that aren’t. The look of family. The feeling of love. Who says a first birthday photoshoot has to involve cake? 🎂

Don’t get me wrong, I’m absolutely here for the cake smashing, messy fingers and icing-covered faces, but if cake isn’t your thing, there are so many other lovely ways to celebrate your little one’s first birthday.

We can keep things beautifully simple with timeless portraits, favourite outfits, a few birthday props and plenty of opportunities to capture their cheeky little personality.

Whether they’re crawling, taking their first wobbly steps or confidently finding their feet, there’ll be plenty of opportunities to capture those lovely little expressions and all the personality that’s emerging.

One whole year of loving them. That’s definitely worth celebrating. ❤️

One of the biggest worries parents have about bringing older siblings to a newborn photoshoot is whether they’ll actually cooperate!

Will they sit still? What if they decide they don’t want their photograph taken at all?

Please don’t worry. I’ve been photographing children for over 20 years, and I’ve learnt a few tricks along the way!

Siblings of all ages are always welcome at my newborn sessions, from toddlers who don’t want to sit still for a second to older children who might need a little encouragement.

I never expect children to sit perfectly and smile on command. Instead, I get them involved, make it fun and give them time to feel comfortable. Sometimes that means playing a little game, having a giggle or simply letting them think the whole thing was their idea!
And you’d be surprised how often the children whose parents were convinced wouldn’t cooperate end up giving us the most wonderful photographs.

There’s no pressure, no rushing and certainly no need to worry about your children being on their best behaviour.

Just bring the whole family. I’ll take care of the rest.

September has been such a busy month in the studio, and it’s not over yet… I still have six more sessions booked in before the end of the month!

I really can’t take on anymore bookings in September, and October and November are filling up very quickly too, particularly for newborn sessions.

If you’re expecting a baby in the next few months, please don’t wait until they arrive to get in touch. I only take on a limited number of newborns each week so that there’s plenty of flexibility around when your baby actually decides to make their appearance.

We’ll pencil your session in a week after your due date, then simply move it if we need to. Booking guarantees your space in the diary whether your little one arrives early, late or on time!

Those tiny fingers, sleepy stretches and curled-up newborn days really do change incredibly quickly. If you’d love photographs like this of your little one, now is the time to get your session in the diary. 🤍

Four months old is such a gorgeous age to photograph. 💕

Those big smiles are starting to appear, they’re holding their heads up, watching everything around them and their little personalities are really beginning to shine through.

And if you missed out on newborn photographs, you haven’t missed your chance. Four months is a completely different stage, but there is so much to capture.

Even if you did have a newborn session, it’s amazing how much they’ve already changed in just a few short months. The tiny sleepy newborn you brought into the studio is suddenly smiling back at you.

There really isn’t just one ‘right’ age for baby photographs. Every stage gives you something different to remember.
