How lucky am I to have a studio big enough to put up a 4.5m gazebo inside?! 😂

We just had to have a little test run of our brand new Miranda Walton Photography gazebo from ready for The Big Bark dog show on 5th & 6th September 🐾

When I ordered it, I knew 4.5 metres sounded big. Turns out… it really is VERY big!!

So Jeremy and I decided the sensible thing to do was put the whole thing up in the studio to see what it looked like before we attempt it in public!

And I LOVE it. 🖤

I’m absolutely over the moon to have been named Best Newborn & Family Photography Studio 2026 in the Diamond Distinction Awards. 🏆

It follows being named Best Maternity & Newborn Photography Studio 2026 – UK Enterprise Awards
and Portrait Photographer of the Year 2025/6 – Prestige Awards.

It’s wonderful to have my work recognised in this way, but what made this one particularly lovely was reading what the judges had to say. They recognised not only the photography itself, but the care that goes into creating a calm and welcoming experience and photographs that capture the warmth, connection and personality of the families I photograph.

That means a lot, because that is exactly what I want every family who comes through my studio doors to experience.

I’m incredibly proud, and very grateful to every family who trusts me to photograph the people who mean the most to them.❤️

I’m absolutely loving all these sunny afternoons and evenings! Give me a family, the studio garden (aka The Watermeadows) and an hour or two outdoors, and I’m very happy.

Although… I never thought I’d hear myself say this as a photographer, but we could actually do with a bit of rain now. The grass is starting to look more like straw!

You don’t have to take your clothes off for your maternity photoshoot. But if you want to, I promise you’ll feel comfortable enough to!

One of the things I hear most often before a maternity session is:

“I’m really nervous!”

Then we spend a little time together.

We chat. We laugh. We take things at your pace.

And something changes. Not because I persuade anyone to do something they don’t want to do, but because feeling safe is very different from feeling brave.

Some mums stay fully dressed throughout their session.
Some wear one of my gowns or dresses.
Some choose beautiful fabrics.
And some decide they’d love something a little more artistic, like this.

Whatever you choose is completely up to you.

There isn’t a right way to celebrate your pregnancy. My job is simply to create a space where you feel comfortable enough to be yourself.

If that means keeping your favourite dress on, wonderful.

If it means creating a beautiful silhouette that celebrates the incredible journey your body has been on, that’s wonderful too.

Your session. Your body. Your choice.

“I’d love family photos… but my toddler just won’t sit still.”

It’s one of the biggest reasons parents put off booking a photoshoot. They imagine spending the whole session chasing their little one around, trying to persuade them to look at the camera, wondering if everyone will leave feeling stressed.

The thing is, I don’t expect toddlers to sit still!

I don’t expect them to smile on command or spend an hour doing as they’re told. That’s not what two-year-olds do… I’ve been there, I know!

Instead, we play.

We explore, make silly noises, chat about their favourite things, run around a little and let them lead the way. Before they realise it, they’re having fun rather than being “photographed”.

After years of photographing families, I’ve learnt that the most treasured images never come from asking a child to sit nicely and “say cheese”. They come from them genuinely enjoying themselves… and it’s my job to make that happen!

So if you’ve been waiting until your toddler is “old enough” or “easier”…

Please don’t.

This stage won’t last forever. One day the running, the endless curiosity and even the determined streak that keeps you on your toes will be gone.

Let’s press pause on today, exactly as it is, because these beautifully everyday moments are the ones you’ll treasure most. 🤍

Parents never say, “I wish I’d had fewer photographs of my baby.”

What they do say is…

“I can’t believe they were ever that tiny.”

The days are long, but the newborn stage is over in the blink of an eye.

That’s why I believe in creating more than photographs. I create artwork that lets you step back into this moment every time you see it on your wall. A reminder of just how tiny they were, and exactly how you felt during those precious first days.
