My oil painting and the model

Ten small canvases. One month-long experiment.
Working with Soluble Wax Crayons, water and mixed media I experimented with the interplay of materials.
The result is “Fluid Alchemy: Ten Abstract Stories of Surrender” – a series of related but distinct mixed-media originals on canvas board, each framed to 10 x 8 inches with a white mat surround.
There are only ten in this series, priced at £150 each.

I made this black-and-white study, The Long Shadow — Hadleigh Castle, to hold a particular moment: the ruined keep in hard silhouette while the cranes of the Port of Tilbury sit quietly on the horizon. I was drawn to the long shadow the castle casts across the slope and to the way light and cloud simplify a complicated place into a single, quiet scene.

I work deliberately with contrast and time — landscapes, built history, small industrial traces — and this print is for people who value a calm, measured view of past and present together. It sits well in a study, living room, or office where a thoughtful image is preferable to spectacle. I’m not trying to dramatise; I’m offering a careful record of a place I keep returning to.
