For some reason, Facebook has decided to disable the link I previously posted to my new page (not so new now).

So here it is again. Please like that page, if you can.

I will return to adding more content there.

As you may have noticed, I haven't been updating this page. My new page isn't limited to just my photography, but includes some of my art, and will eventually include other stuff I do.

Please give the page a👍, here's the link: Thomas Vooght.

Thanks.

Helping someone you know, can have its perks. This evening, I was invited to a secure site in Avonmouth Docks. I didn't have my main camera with me, but shot this trio with my trusty .

Due to some peculiarity with the way Facebook works, I was unable to change the name of this page, to match my instagram feed and website. But was able to create a new page with the name.

I will continue to manage both pages, but if you want to like the new page, that would be splendid.

There are shots there, which aren't here.

Another question, which is often asked, is "what's the best camera to get when starting out with photography?" or "I have camera x, what camera should I get next?".

The best camera, is the one that you have to hand, and/or feel comfortable using.

The camera is just a tool, which should enable you to get the shots that you want. The photo will be 95% you, the other five percent will be location, lighting, equipment, etc. You are the most important element to getting a good picture.

It's true that some cameras are better for certain things, but it is also true that a great image can be taken with a bad camera, even (despite what some snooty folk might say) with a mobile phone. Other shots may only be possible with special cameras, but that doesn't necessarily mean expensive. The shower shot was taken with a compact camera (Sony TX5).

I shoot with Sony cameras, but you might not. It's not an issue. It's really important that you find your camera comfortable. I will save another post for the complications of interchangeable lens cameras, SLR, DSLR, SLT, mirrorless being the main ones.

Details of the camera used, in each image, but without looking, can you spot which one is the expensive mirrorless, which is a mid range DSLR, which is the cheap strange compact, and which is the mobile phone? You already know about the shower shot.

Let me know what you think, and what questions you would like to see answered.
