Last night I took my dad on a 600 mile round trip to say goodbye to his sister… Doreen.
There was no way I wasn’t taking him. Not for something like that.
We left at 4pm and didn’t get back until the early hours of the morning. I’m exhausted… but I’d do it all again in a heartbeat.
I got to spend 8 hours in the car with my dad, just the two of us, and I’m really grateful for that time.
Watching my dad say goodbye to his sister is something I’ll never forget. I can’t even begin to imagine what that must feel like… and I honestly hope I never have to. That kind of pain would break me.
I hadn’t seen my auntie in a few years, and the guilt has hit me hard. You always think there’ll be more time… until there isn’t.
Life gets busy, I get it. We all have things going on. But if you’re reading this, please… make the time. For the people who meant everything to you growing up, even if you haven’t seen them as much lately.
Because one day, you might not get the chance.
Thinking of you, Doreen ❤️
