It sometimes seems taboo to think of photographs at a funeral and yet as any other event it is a coming together of people, in celebration.
It is a day of intense emotion and often means people or moments aren’t absorbed or are missed.
When asked if I would capture her father’s funeral just before Christmas it became clear that it was an assignment I felt the need to do.
It was humbling, it was emotional but most of all it was a celebration and coming together of all those who knew and loved him and it was humbling to capture.
From 2026 I will be offering a funeral photography service. Something I’d thought of for a while, discreet and observational but a record for you to keep. A day that doesn’t need to be forgotten but should be remembered as incredibly special.
**Thank you to Jodie and her family who have given permission for a small discreet sample to be shared ….
