I love film because of its authenticity and aesthetic. I love how it makes me photograph and watch a scene. I look for the difference in light, and slow down the moments.

I had some scans back yesterday from some recent rolls of film. I love this one of the car! Shooting in black and white makes me look for the light and shadow, thinking what will look interesting rather than relying on colour. I saw the glint of sunlight on the light of the car and the shadow around the wheels which I knew would work well.

Here I saw the sunlight catching her veil, although this photo is slightly underexposed and there for more grainy, I still think it’s beautiful. For me with film, I know I’m not always going to get it right. That can be frustrating but it’s not worth throwing a beautiful photo away because it’s not perfect.

This one is super contrasty which is what I wanted. Taken in the stairwell of the hotel, the light from the window was casting beautiful shapes here. It picks out details in the dress but the background is dark, keeping all the focus on the dress.

As a Catholic, marriage is a sacrament, so this means that your wedding is not just a great excuse for a party but a celebration of coming together with Christ.

I personally feel it’s important to have someone as intimately involved with your wedding day, appreciate and understand how sacred this is for you. It’s not a necessity, as someone who is respectful of your faith can still take amazing photographs, but I do think there’s something special about sharing it with those that do.

Your photographer is with you at intimate moments throughout your day. From getting ready, to walking down the aisle, to witnessing your ceremony, afterwards as newly weds and every moment in between.

How special would it be to have someone recite a Hail Mary with you, or cover you in prayer as you prepare for the biggest day of your life so far.
