We are pleased to announce the first visiting locomotive for our Summer Diesel Festival, between Thursday 8th and Saturday 10th of June.
We are pleased to confirm that Class 25 No. D7659 courtesy of the Waterman Railway Heritage Trust will be making its debut to our railway.
D7659 came back into service during the latter part of 2021 for the first time in more than 23 years following a comprehensive restoration that effectively saw the 1966 loco rebuilt. As the final locomotive built by Beyer Peacock at Gorton Works in Manchester, D7659 saw 20 years and 2 months of work with British Railways mostly in the Midlands and Northwest and also with service in Wales and Scotland and some summer holiday specials to Norwich during the 1970s. Nowadays the locomotive can be found at the peak rail.
The loco will join the home-based fleet of Class 09 D4107, Class 14 D9526, Class 33's D6566 & D6575, Class 35's 'Hymek's' D7017 & D7018 and Class 115 DMU.
