Beach Therapy ✨

The fresh sea air surrounds me,
Calling me down to the sand,
The butterflies begin to settle,
As I’m pulled by this friendly hand.

Looking out to the horizon,
Where the sky and the water meet,
Upon the grassy sand dunes,
Is my favourite place to take seat.

The rolling & crashing water,
The familiar salty breeze,
Blow the storm clouds from my mind,
Making me feel at ease.

The tumbling waves know my secrets,
The darkest thoughts I try to hide,
I spill them all over the shoreline,
To be taken away by the tide.

The sunset in the distance,
The golden rays that glow,
A peaceful and calm feeling,
My heartbeat begins to slow.

The comforting sand beneath my feet,
My safe and happy place,
Everything feels better,
As I fall into nature’s embrace.

Now my soul is no longer aching,
My mind is not so heavy,
I’ve soaked up all of the goodness,
From my very own beach therapy.

The winter solstice marks the first day of winter and the shortest day of the year. It also means that the days will start to get longer from today! 🙏🏼🌞 Yay to that!

Over the last few weeks, a number of live turtles have been washed up on the South West of England (Cornwall and Channel Islands).

This is yet another worrying sign of climate change, as these animals are tropical.

Our South Wales coastline, in particular Gower, is not that far away from where these have been found, so it wouldn't be a surprise if turtles do find their way here.

Would you know what to do if you did find one?

Please read this poster for initial advice then immediately call the BDMLR 24 hour helpline on 01825 765546.

A trained medic will attend to assist the animal and hopefully, after a period of rehabilitation, return it to where it should live.
