The Chiloé Wigeon is a popular bird among bird collections and are a special little bird. Unlike some bird species, these colourful ones engage in co-parenting whereby the father helps the mother to raise chicks, especially rare among duck species. The bonds between these birds are so lovely to watch and they are named after the whistling call of the male!

African wild dog Deadleg for today’s 🧡 🐾
African wild dogs are the largest wild canine in Africa and the only extant member of their genus, Lycaon which is distinguished from Canis by dentition highly specialised for a hypercarnivorous diet, and by a lack of dewclaws!

This little species was really lovely to watch! The way they dug through the moss and sand or just taking in the warmth of the sun ☀️
The common dwarf mongoose is a species native to Angola, northern Namibia, KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, Zambia and East Africa. They are currently listed as least concern (LC) by the IUCN.

One of the many species I’ve had the joy of learning a lot more about over the last couple of years, and now one of the species part of my research analysis for dissertation.

African painted dogs have large ears that serve as cooling systems! Air moves over the blood vessels in their ears and carries heat away, how cool!

!ATTENTION WILDLIFE LOVERS AND CONSERVATIONISTS!
Missing travel so much right now 💭 ✈️ Although my travel hadn’t been as focused on wildlife and conservation previously, I had so many plans for volunteering and work abroad this year.. but for now, we just have to wait and hope we can get back out to helping the global world of wildlife 💚
What can you do whilst waiting to travel again??
• Online courses in wildlife conservation
• Plan some future research
• Make some connections through the wonders of social media to spread the word of wildlife conservation
