"Capture the Wild - Happy World Photography Day"

It's been a crazy couple of weeks helping Jack master his new Nikon Z6 in the New Forest and then jump straight back to helping families master their snorkel skills here at Swanage Pier.

But finally I'm catching up and I was so happy to see Jack go from knowing nothing about ISOs, Apertures and Shutter Speeds at the start of the course to see him progress throughout the day, getting creative and using the full capabilities of his camera.

I was super touched to get this feedback:

"From Zero to Hero"

Friday saw me welcome Non and Lesley on a 2 hr photo course at Studland.

It was clear very quickly that Non already had a fabulous eye for images, and we ran through a few basics to enhance her smartphone images from Apps to Settings to enhancing them afterwards.

Even I couldn't believe the difference though at the end of the course.

Huge well done Non and it was so lovely meeting you both 🙌

"Happy Guests, Happy Hearts"

Last week was super special back helping Sue master her Smartphone Photography Skills as a belated birthday gift 🎁

It was incredible to see how much she learnt in such a short space of time and loved how at the start of the course she was thinking of upgrading but quickly changed her mind in just a couple of hours.

She bumped into people she hadn't seen in years, tried accessory lenses to get super creative with her flower photography and we finished the day with more tea and a gluten free flapjack 💕

Happy Thursday All,

Hope you're all ok in this heat 🤞

So just in case you've been wondering where I am when I'm not in the studio, the ocean became my home last year.

Today I've been at Chesil Cove where I was completely shocked that 4 people recognised me from my work in the dive industry 😳

My underwater photography is always what gets me through the "stuff" and I've loved creating mini-films to help people learn about our coast. You can see more of it at Dorset Underwater 💙

I'll be back at the studio on Saturday 11 am - 4 pm.

What makes me smile the most?

A guest who comes to my studio when I'm not supposed to be there, just in case I am - and I was 😃

Such a lovely morning welcoming Andy back and his wife. It was great to hear how well their son is doing with his photography skills too!

Really looking forward to creating more canvas gifts for them 🎁. Aren't these images amazing that Andy's created since his course 🙌

Happy Monday All!

Wow I got 3 likes 🙌. That makes me so happy as I honestly didn't think I would even get one 🤣

Seriously, it's been a loooongggg almost 5.5 years since I started feeling the effects of NHS injury whilst on the Covid Frontline helping our community and finally, after all this time asking for help, someone believed that yes I do deserve it 🙌

It's been beyond stressful, heart-wrenching and shocking that there is no charity to support care and NHS hospital staff if we get hurt on duty, and I'm so sorry if any of you caught me in a teary, stressful moment - it's truly been horrid coming to terms that I'll never walk properly again, however much I've tried and battled and do things I loved 🥰

BUT the past few days have been more than amazing and I was asked to photograph this beautiful family on Saturday.

So honoured to help them as they were there for me when I started my NHS and SWAST journey for our community back in 2015 ☺️

"Learn, Explore, Capture, Create"

Last week was all about helping a child to discover the wonders of nature through photography on a new Family Photography Day in the New Forest 🌳

It was absolutely mindblowing to see how a 9 year old grasped the world of ISOs, Apertures and Shutter Speeds so quickly using both Nikon and Sony d-SLR and Bridge cameras and created incredible images in just a few hours at his first attempt 🙌

The course helped to develop observation, creativity, patience and storytelling skills as well as connecting him and his mum to the wildlife.

I LOVED every minute of it and was sooooo touched to receive this message:

"Thank you so much for a great day, we learnt so much. Thomas has been using Aperture Priority Mode since he came back."

HUGE well done Thomas, can't wait to share the images with you all 🙌

"The Kind of Gift You Never Stop Smiling At"

Yesterday Cathy caught me at the studio, asking if I could help turn her favourite image of her furbaby into a canvas print.

I checked it over, removing distracting overhead lights, leads and dust spots, lightening her left eye to match the right before hand stretching it here with care and sealing it with artists tape on the back 💕

I'd forgotten how much I love helping turn guests' images into more than just a print, working with them to make it look the best it can be. It's all ready for her to collect in just a few hours.
