Feathered Jewels

A Shield Bug in its Youthful Stage.

This little bug is actually a nymph of a Shield Bug, possibly a Green Shield Bug (Palomena prasina). The intricate patterns and colours it sports at this stage are part of its journey to becoming a full-grown shield bug. The detail in these tiny creatures is always fascinating to capture.
