"I don't have the words to describe how I feel about these". That's what one Birmingham Mum said recently when I delivered the beautiful framed photos of her lovely family. There's one of all of them proudly displayed large on the wall of their home, plus several other smaller ones.

I'll become mostly retired at the end of the year, so if you've been thinking about outdoor family photography, it's now or never !

After 19 years I'll be hanging up the cameras. Many, many thanks to all of my lovely clients, past & current, for their support and for trusting me with their precious family photography. There's been a lot of tears (in a good way) and many memorable moments, often involving animals!

I wouldn't have thought 18 years ago when I started as a photographer that I'd feature in Digital Photographer magazine, sharing some professional tips. Back then I'd read this magazine to pick up those tips !
As well as family photography, I also create business photos for all kinds of businesses. In the article I talk about personal branding photography for people who are the face of their business.

I'm happy to say that KidsNaturally has been rated 13th in the top "Best Birmingham Photography Blogs and Websites" ! There's a lot of photographers in and around Birmingham, covering everything from weddings to commercial to fashion, so that's a welcome vote !

The story behind a photo.
It was taken in Majorca. A really lovely family who are regular clients invited me along to an extended family celebration. The light was beautifully clear and the sea a deep azure. Perfect you might think.

“Let’s go to the beach!” said the children. The trouble was, the beach was very crowded. The last thing you want is hordes of random people in the background of your family photos. I managed to move around, get the right angles, and do a little photoshopping, to create a set of natural photos of the children digging in the sand and playing on the beach.

I went looking for scenic locations without lots of people. That afternoon I found jetties that stretch out into the gorgeous colours of the Mediterranean Sea. I got the brother & sister to stay at the end of the jetty, while I ran up some steps to get the angle looking down on them with no distractions in the background. Their parents were nearby keeping an eye on them! I like that the children appear very small in a big world. It’s as if they are looking out into their undecided future. The grandparents have it displayed as a huge metal print in their home, and I have the same in my studio.
