First post in a while, trying to break the circle of not posting and overthinking what to post about.
A weekend in Westray in mid July treated me very well for wildlife spotting.
Shown here are a few of Westray's summer inhabitants:
Northern Gannets (Morus Bassanus) from the Noup Head colony, aka the majestic dinosaurs. The cliffs at Noup Head were full of individuals and pairs of various age (in the first few years their plumage is still changing and shows black spots on the upper wing) along with chicks! Although was quite sad to see that a fair few chicks had not made it far in life.
Westray's most famous clown, the Atlantic Puffin (Fratercula arctica) at the Castle O'Burrian
Finally, the last true auk, closest relative to the infamous extinct Great Auk, the Razorbill (Alca Torda). This one posed for me for a while in the golden evening light.
Also not featured on picture on Westray: Common Gullemot, Great Skuas, Arctic Skua, Fulmars and their chicks, Arctic Terns, various gulls, Kittiwakes, Black Guillemots (aka Tystie), and many more, seabirds, passerine and waders alike. Don't forget to get out there and enjoy
