Portlogan in the early hours of this morning with some Perseid Meteors.

Managed just under two hours of photographs before the cloud moved in,three hundred and two images only eight images with meteors. The above image is a composite of the eight meteor photos stacked and rotated to show the true radiant point in the sky.

You might need to click on the photo to expand it if you want to see the meteor trails.

On clear, calm sunny days like what we had last week you will sometimes get sunsets like this one when a layer of cloud forms as the sun sets.

Sometimes a scene that looks good to the eye doesn't always make a good photograph. That could possibly be the case here? i really don't know but i just had to capture this wee scene where only the outer longer branches of the trees had caught a wee dusting of snow and a slither of light shining on a dead branch in the centre.

The simple things.

This is an image from the tail end of last summer featuring the 'Belt of Venus' which is the pink band just above the horizon. This can be observed just after sunset or just before sunrise when skies are clear. The cold snap at the beginning of this year was also a great time to see this.
Itching to get back out again but for now i will have to rely on some archive shots. :)

This is a photo i have been wanting to do for a while now and i managed to get this one on hogmany just a couple of hundred metres away from my front door.Looking right up Lochryan the golden light from the setting sun catching the snow covered mountains over in the Isle of Arran.I would love to be over there when conditions are like this but the way things are just now that is looking unlikely anytime soon :(.

Throw back Thursday

Dec 2017

I wasn't going to bother posting anything this week but the weather today is almost identical to the weather on the day i took this photo.Clearish skies and a very keen wind blowing from the north made for a bitterly cold day just like today.I can imagine it looking pretty much the same as the photo right now.
I wish i was there but i have far too much to do before Santa visits tonight 🎅.

Merry Christmas to you all :)
