Last September I spent a weekend with three different families.
It’s taken me so long to post about that weekend because I wanted to be able to find the right words and really do each of these families justice.
Over the space of just a couple of days, I photographed three families whose stories have become intertwined with my own over the years.
Each time I look at any of the photos from that weekend, it really hits me just how much life we’ve shared together.
Between them, I’ve photographed engagements, a surprise proposal, weddings, maternity sessions, newborn sessions, family sessions and from behind the lens I’ve watched their children grow as mine have.
I’ve stood beside them on some of the happiest days of their lives. I’ve met brand new babies just days after they entered the world. I’ve watched these couples fall more in love with each other and become parents. And somehow, they keep coming back and trusting me with the next chapter.
There are moments I’ll never forget. Couples choosing their wedding date around my availability. Hearing my name mentioned in wedding speeches and ceremony readings. Those are things I never expect, and they still bring tears to my eyes because they remind me that this is about so much more than photographs.
It’s about trust.
Trusting me to witness the moments you’ll never get back. Trusting me with the people you love most. Trusting me to preserve memories that one day your children and grandchildren will look back on.
That isn’t something I’ll ever become used to.
To Mairead and Garry, Dori and Richard, Nicola and Paddy, and to every family who has invited me into their lives over the years, thank you.
Thank you for choosing me, for coming back, and for allowing me to tell your story, one chapter at a time.
It is one of the greatest privileges of my life, and I don’t think I’ll ever find the words to truly express how grateful I am
❤️😘
