I’m absolutely delighted to share that The Myself Portrait Project has secured funding through a combination of corporate sponsorship and community grants, allowing me to continue providing free drawing lessons for women who would benefit from a boost in self-confidence and mental wellbeing.

A huge thank you to Nigel Hemming, The Lounge Foundation, and The John Porter Community Fund for believing in this project and the positive impact that creativity can have on people’s lives.

Their support has funded places for six women to take part in a series of free drawing sessions designed to encourage self-expression, build confidence, and support wellbeing through art.

I’m thrilled to say that four of the six places have already been filled, which means there are just TWO spaces remaining! If you, or someone you know, would like to take part, please get in touch.

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing more about these wonderful supporters and the incredible work they do.

✨ Nigel Hemming is a renowned British wildlife and canine artist whose work has inspired art lovers for decades.

✨ The Lounge Foundation supports women’s and children’s health through grants and initiatives, including the Feel Your Breast campaign, which promotes breast cancer awareness and regular self-checks.

✨ The John Porter Community Fund provides financial support to local charities, community groups, schools, sports clubs and individuals across the Stourbridge area.

Thank you again to everyone involved. Your support is helping women discover their creativity, build confidence, and create something they’re truly proud of. ❤️

Firstly, apologies for the radio silence this week!

I’ve been enjoying a much-needed family holiday in beautiful New Quay, Wales, where the internet signal has been very limited… and honestly, it’s been quite lovely to switch off for a while. A week away in the sunshine, surrounded by gorgeous scenery and spending quality time with my family, was exactly what the doctor ordered.

Now I’m back, feeling refreshed, recharged, and ready to get stuck back in this week!

And stay tuned, because I have some incredibly exciting news to share about The Myself Portrait Project very soon… I can’t wait to tell you all about it!

Thank you, as always, for your support while I’ve been away. 💛

✨ Another beautiful moment from The Myself Portrait Project ✨

This lovely lady completed her self-portrait yesterday and I’m so proud of what she achieved. She’s an artist herself and creates beautiful dog paintings, taking on commission work (check out her artist page Custard tart Art custardtartart )— but she’d rarely drawn before!

I think you’ll agree she’s done an amazing job, and perhaps portrait drawing can now become part of her creative repertoire too 🎨✨

It was such a pleasure welcoming her into my studio. She’s such a lovely lady and spending time with people throughout this project continues to remind me how special creativity and connection can be.

Here is what she had to say about her experience-

“Elizabeth, I am so happy that our paths crossed. I felt like I'd known you forever because you made me feel so comfortable. I learned new things...who knew there was an F pencil? And i learned that my face doesn't need to be perfect, infact, it shows lifes experiences...Good and not so good. It has given me lots of confidence to move forward. In fact I've already attempted a portrait of my lovely grandaughter. Having shown her the picture she wants me to show her how to do it!! Shes 6! I'll look out for other workshops and will recommend to others.”

There is currently a space available, so if any ladies feel they would benefit from joining me in my studio to learn how to draw their own self-portrait and be part of The Myself Portrait Project, please get in touch 💛

To keep the project going, I will need to raise money through fundraising and corporate sponsorship. If you’re a business interested in sponsoring the project, please reach out. Alternatively, you can make a voluntary donation via https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/portrait . Every donation will be very gratefully received!

There’s something so special about capturing the personality of a dog in pencil ✏️🐾
The cheeky expressions, the soulful eyes, the scruffy fur, the loyal companionship… every portrait I draw is created with love and attention to the little details that make your dog uniquely them.

Whether they’re playful, dignified, mischievous or completely bonkers, I love bringing beloved pets to life through hand drawn pencil portraiture. These portraits also make thoughtful gifts for birthdays, anniversaries or to remember a much missed best friend ❤️

If you’ve ever wanted a timeless portrait of your furry family member, I’d love to create one for you. Feel free to message me for commission enquiries 🐶✨

I nearly didn’t enter the Cass Art Prize again this year. Every single year I think about applying, then end up talking myself out of it with the usual “who am I kidding, I’m not going to win anyway.”

But then I realised… I definitely won’t win if I never enter. So bu**er it — this year I did.

I’ve entered my latest self portrait, Life vs Comfort. The piece explores the inner conflict so many of us face between taking chances and stepping into the real world, or staying safely tucked away in our comfort zones, living life through a screen. It’s a very personal piece, but also one I think a lot of people will relate to.

Putting your work out there is honestly terrifying sometimes, but I’m proud of myself for doing it anyway. Wish me luck 🤞✨
