World Flour Day - and the Unexpected Joy of Bread...
As today is World Flour Day (yup, I didn't know that had a day for that either), I thought I'd do a quick post on something I enjoy immensely 😊
When I’m not behind a camera or building websites, you’ll usually find me covered in flour.
Baking has quietly become one of my favourite ways to switch off. There’s something incredibly satisfying about turning a handful of simple ingredients - flour, water, salt, yeast - into something alive, warm, and (ideally!) delicious.
On World Flour Day, it feels only right to celebrate the ingredient that makes it all possible.
I get my flour locally - there’s something quite special about using flour milled not too far from home (and supporting local businesses of course!). It connects you to a much bigger story - fields, harvests, and centuries of baking tradition.
Bread, like photography, is all about patience, timing, and a bit of instinct. Sometimes everything works perfectly, and sometimes you learn something new (usually the hard way!).
Either way, I wouldn’t be without it.
If you’ve never baked your own loaf, give it a go. Just be warned - it can become a bit of an obsession 😋
(And if you ever need photos, websites or bread recommendations.... you know where I am.)
