Staring into the weekend like… 👀

Happy hump-day Wednesday!

We are halfway through the week, a rather cold week for us! We’ve been enjoying lots of crisp, fresh walks this week, but the sun is still shining and a bit of cold never stops us having the best walks each day☀️

In September we launched fixed-point photography in the Forest - an emerging technique that is becoming more frequently used in the conservation sector to help monitor the changes in our landscapes. Since then, volunteers have been heading out to take photographs at set locations every month.

Monitoring the changing landscape over time and through the seasons means that the data collected can be used to form a bigger picture, providing us with vital geographical data to use alongside other records that are collected in the Forest.

By recording changes and monitoring trends we can adapt our conservation management to ensure that we achieve the best outcomes for wildlife, and work proactively to grow and conserve our beautiful broadleaf Forest.

Have you seen any of these posts in the Forest? Why not have a go yourself and share your photos with us. We look forward to seeing what you capture!

✨Happy Monday!✨

We hope you’ve all had the best start to your week, we certainly have! On top of having awesome walks and visits today, we received our incredible pictures back from our little photoshoot we had a couple of weeks back.

They are looking absolutely gorgeous and I am so excited to share them with you all!

I know my owners who had dogs walked on those days are particularly eager to see them, they will be sent out via email over the next couple of days so please check your inboxes (I’ll also follow up with a message don’t worry).

Thank you again to for your time and capturing beautiful photographs of our wonderful pups! 🐶

Who me ? 🥺🥰
Otter -(Lutra Lutra )🇬🇧

Tolga resides permanently at (unable to be released and is now a ambassador for the charity )

A charity which I fully support and I even had time to volunteer with last year while in Devon for many months.

The great team that run it work tirelessly to do the best they can for otters they rescue and release 👏🏻. To watch the charity go from strength to strength Is an absolute joy.

I could go on and on about the but instead
I urge you to check out there socials and website , to see their wonderful work .

Keep up guys 💚 ( I’ll be back)

A sleeping king 👑 must not be disturbed 💙
Kingfisher-(Alcedo atthis)

I have been photographing and studying kingfishers for many years.
A sleeping Kingfisher is new one☝️

But I think it brings an interesting point to forefront and that’s ethical wildlife photography.

Not just because the kingfisher is a specialised species but because it highlights that it counts towards all fauna and flora.

A few simple ethical rules to follow ( not meant to be exhaustive).

1. The welfare of the wildlife always comes first
2. Wildlife conservation should always be the aim of wildlife photography.
3. Respect the subjects giving them distance
4. Minimise disturbance ( don’t disrupt their natural behaviour in anyway)
5. Do your research on the subject
6. Know the rules and laws
7. No live baits
8. Do no harm
9. Remember you’re a visitor
10. Leave only footprints

I could go and on with rules but if in doubt use common sense.

As the participants stage comes to an end 🥰

For the past few months I’ve been attending a social research project in Salford . As “photography support “ .

The research is looking into how older communities can remain socially connected in places they live in visit. With help of small compact cameras.📷

The research will develop ideas on how communities can become more age friendly post pandemic.

Watching the participants growing in confidence and personality was lovely 🥰

But having the most shy or nervous participants pick up a camera and just being involved and enjoying the experience, a truly wonderful experience 📸✅ ( in the end taking some great pictures, super proud 🥹)

They wish it could continue! ( me too !)

Roll on the book and gallery!
