It’s been a wee while since I last did a pooch photoshoot, and I’d forgotten just how much fun they are... and mental!
Shooting ice hockey and dance events isn’t even in the same league as trying to keep up with Skye tearing around the field after her ball.
Side note... everyone's goal in life is to find someone who looks at them how Skye looks at her ball!
I won’t lie, there were more than a few duff shots to w**d out afterwards, but I think it was worth it in the end.
Call me crazy, but I absolutely love a poochy photoshoot!

After a few busy weeks photographing shows and dance groups, it's nice to look back at an individual session from earlier in May.
These shoots are always one of my favourites. Watching dancers go from feeling nervous at the start to completely owning the camera by the end is such a rewarding part of the job.
The parents are often just as involved too, offering plenty of guidance and suggestions, and all I can think is, "Is this what I've got to look forward to when Hannah starts her competition journey next year?"
These sessions are all about having fun, but they've also proven to be a great way for dancers to fine-tune technique, improve movement, and get a real confidence boost at the same time.

Ice hockey is one of those sports that constantly keeps you on your toes as a photographer.
The pace is relentless, and every shift can produce a moment worth capturing.
When it comes to editing, I still love a good black and white edit. I think it has a way of emphasising the emotion, contrast, and intensity of the game that colour sometimes can't quite match.

I've shot quite a few fitness events over the years, but Katie Boynes and Sarahjane Colliar might just be the most energetic and positive duo I've come across!
Despite only exchanging the occasional "well done" between stations, they were an absolute joy to photograph throughout the day at Proving Grounds!
Their energy, encouragement, and smiles never seemed to fade, and it genuinely looked like they were having an incredible time from start to finish.
What an absolute blast that must have been!

After an incredible May, June is shaping up to be just as busy and exciting!
With Tough Mudder now wrapped up, a prom at the end of this week, another dance show early next week, and a few smaller shoots throughout the month, I've decided to close my diary for any larger shoots for the rest of June.
I can still squeeze in one or two shorter sessions (around 1–1.5 hours max), but anything bigger will now need to be booked for July or August.
It might seem a little crazy to turn away work, but balancing a full-time job, two young kids, and a photography business can sometimes be a lot!
That said, I never take any of this for granted. I'm incredibly grateful to be in a position where I can be selective with the shoots I take on, and that's only possible because of all the amazing people who have booked with me, recommended me, messaged me, and supported my work.
Thank you all!
Your support means more than you know!
(Apologies if you've read this twice... I hated the last post with my face in it! 🤣 Ohh the irony! 🤣)

Massive congratulations to all the dancers, coaches and parents on an absolutely fantastic run of shows to round off the season!
It was a pleasure capturing the rehearsals a few weeks ago, but the highlight for me was getting to put the camera down on Friday and simply watch Hannah from the stalls.
A very proud dad moment!
I've always joked about what would happen if Hannah really took to dancing...
The training sessions.
The dresses.
The weekends away.
The hair.
The make-up.
The cost. 😅
But watching her on stage, seeing the confidence, the friendships and, most importantly, just how much she loves it, has changed my mind.
(Check back this time next year and see if I'm still saying that! 🤣)

Very best of luck to all the dancers, coaches, and parents at for opening night of this evening's showcase!
I've only seen a few small snippets of the hard work, dedication, and determination that have gone into making this happen, and it's already so impressive!
So go out there, give it your all, and most importantly, enjoy every moment!
Can't wait for Friday night to see it all in action... and not just through the lens of a camera!
So excited to finally get to see Hannah take to the stage for her very first performance!
She's been absolutely buzzing with excitement for weeks! Already so proud of her!

With it being such a tight turnaround and being important to get the photos up and out there quickly, these are all unedited straight off of camera.
They might not be quite as "polished" as normal, but I hope still do the day justice!
