Welcome to the world of April Ridge Photography! Over the last three years, I’ve had the absolute privilege of shooting close to 100 weddings.

Before picking up a camera full-time, I was a trained nurse. That background really shaped how I see the world and why I care so deeply about family and close relationships, it's something I always try to weave into my work.

I’m based right here in Hertfordshire, navigating life as a proud mum of four. Oh, and I'm pretty sure my dog is the only sane thing in my house most days! At my core, I just really love people and I love weddings. My absolute favorites are the relaxed, fun ones, whether we're shooting locally in Hertfordshire or going further afield.

As a wedding photographer, my job is to capture the day as it naturally unfolds. I’m not here to manufacture moments or stage fake reactions, because true, unfiltered emotion can’t be scripted.

But here’s the secret: while I can't fake the feeling, you can set the stage for it.

Moments like this groom reading a letter from his bride don't happen by accident. They happen because the couple intentionally carved out space for a raw, personal connection amidst the chaos of a wedding morning.

Writing a few words to your partner before you walk down the aisle does more than just calm the nerves, it creates the magic. It gives us the raw, beautiful story you'll want to relive for the rest of your lives.

Having known Jack for years, I was beyond honored when he asked me to capture his wedding to Sophie. Fun fact: I’d actually never even met or spoken to Sophie before the ceremony! But she instantly brought such warmth, and it’s so clear these two are a perfect match. I also need to add that her tea length gown and lace edge veil stole the show! Vintage vibes and I am here for it 😍

For me, intimate weddings are everything. This day proved you don’t need hundreds of guests to create an incredible atmosphere, sometimes all you need are the people you love most and keeping the focus on what the day is really about.

Surrounded by family and friends, including Jack's long-time friend & best man Stevie. The moment I captured of Stevie supporting Jack right before Sophie walked down the aisle is genuinely one of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken of a best man. It shows a depth of connection and friendship that only the passing of time can make.

And while churches are places of religious service, what an unforgettable backdrop they provide. A massive thank you to the vicar at the church in Clifton, Bedfordshire, for being such a wonderfully warm and welcoming human being.

I spend my life capturing other people’s love stories, but if I’m being completely honest, it can be easy to lose sight of the magic in my own.

Like every couple, we’ve had our ups and downs, especially over the last few years. Having twins is hard. Raising a child with autism is hard. Navigating life with four kids in general is beautiful, chaotic, and incredibly hard.

We’ve had to put in the work. Real, conscious work, day in and day out. But we have shown up for each other every single day.

Next year, we will have been married for 10 years, and I don't regret a single second of it. I have never met anyone more deeply caring or selfless than my husband.

For all the shouting I do about being a strong, independent, one-woman business, he is always there in the quiet background. He’s the one making sure I actually eat, carrying the heavy gear, and acting as the soundboard for every single one of my crazy ideas.

I am forever grateful for him. And when I’m behind the camera capturing my couples, my deepest hope for them is that they find a partner who loves them the exact way he loves me. 🤍

But what if there’s a match on our wedding day ⚽️👀

I get asked this sometimes by couples who are secretly worried about football schedules. My answer? Embrace it.

These photos are from July 2025 during the Women’s Euros. Yes, the Lionesses were playing, and yes, the guests were absolutely glued to the screen. We even had one guest cheering loudly for the opposition (love a bit of friendly rivalry!).

But look at those faces. The atmosphere was electric, the room was packed with smiles, and honestly? It gave the evening an extra boost of pure, unfiltered energy.

If your big day falls on a major game, don't panic. Put a screen up, let people cheer, and watch your wedding turn into the most joyful, memorable pub in the country for two hours.
