I’m away until later this week, staying in the North East.

Although this page is for Stamford & Rutland, is there anywhere you’d like to see while I’m up that way? Specifically around Morpeth, and the coast way.

When I first started coming to Oakham, the by-pass and now retail/business park didn't exist. It's nice to see it's grown, some larger companies move in, and naturally the McDonalds that everyone moaned about is still going..

Looking over Lands' End clothing. It's good to see this place still going strong and I always forget it's owned/run by it's American counterpart.

While in the area, I did pop into Rutland Garden Centre for a lovely coffee. I've not been before, but it was nice to wander round, have a coffee and look at things I really don't need for my house..

The view down on Oakham Enterprise Park, formally known as HM Prison Ashwell.

I always knew this place as being a prison, but forgot it closed down back in 2011, and it's now run by Rutland County Council, and I used to have a couple of clients here when I used to work in the food industry.

I just love that it literally still looks like a prison from the air and the ground, complete with the security fencing, gates and parafanalia.

The village of Cottesmore. The largest one in Rutland (it's not hard to be fair..), with everything you need.

Can you spot Colin Easson Motors, The Sun Inn Rutland or Kendrew Barracks in the background?

Now that the season has finished, here's Cottesmore AFC, Westray Park, taking a well deserved rest before the season comes back in August.

I once took Cottesmore all the way to the Championship on Football Manager years back. Picture having a 35,000 seater stadium in the village..

The fabulous Rocks By Rail - The Living Ironstone Museum (well worth a visit, by the way).

I'd say one of those hidden gems in Rutland, particularly when they're running their 'Driver for a Fiver' experience.
