DogOddity

DogOddity Lifestyle blog of a dog owner. Since I was 8 there has been a dog at my feet. Everything and more from an outdoor girl with a border collie.

My house wouldn’t feel like a home without at least one furry companion sneaking up behind me and poking its nose in the fridge. I’ve had a connection with dogs since a young age and my passion to find a career with them led me to gaining qualifications in animal behaviour, management and welfare along with dog training and instructing skills (I won’t bore you with the whole list, this isn’t a CV)

. So welcome to my corner of the internet, expect to hear a lot about dogs, product reviews, training tips and adventures as well as general lifestyle posts, camping, walking and outdoors expeditions.

Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to Guinness this week.
I haven't added to my blog or this page for a while but it seemed fitting to dedicate a post to him as he was a huge part of why I set the blog up.

Unfortunately this week we had to say goodbye to my Border Collie Guinness. From wandering around as usual, pestering me to finish work at 5pm and throw his ball on Friday, to stealing a pizza from…

Yesterday Zebby and I had our first day on a shoot.
(if you dont want to see or hear about this then keep scrolling).

I was a little apprehensive and expecting the worst but this shoot really suited Zebby.

We beat for 3 drives and while he went a bit far from me at times he did check in and come back (after a few calls 😆).

We were asked to go find 2 ducks which had been shot and Zebby searched and retrieved them both wonderfully.

Then for the final drive we got to pick up for my friend Stu and we had the perfect bird which Zebby marked and then retrieved.

Lots of things to polish up and training to do but overall a good day I'd say!!
He didn't bark once, didn't fall out with any of the other dogs and I didn't loose him. 👍👍👍

Don't let any so called "balance trainers" try to convince you that intimidation or physical punishment is needed in some circumstances...

So I downloaded TikTok... Looked at it once then never again for a month or so... Then I made one or two silly videos... Then didn't use it for another month or so... But now I'm fully in and under and thought it was about time I used the platform for something useful... Alongside silly dances and lip sync videos of course!
