Parents created handprint and footprint pottery keepsakes while I photographed the little people they were trying so hard to keep tiny forever.

There is something incredibly special about preserving both.

The answer is very little.

Everything is prepared for you before you arrive, from wraps and blankets through to the styling of your images.

Your only job is to arrive, feed your baby if needed, and relax.

Every year there is a short window when everything comes together perfectly.

The soft evening light. The scent of lavender in the air. Children running between the rows. Families slowing down for half an hour and simply being together.

Everything you see in my cakesmash sessions is provided for you.

That includes the set, the styling, the outfit options, and the cake itself.

For this recent session we needed a dairy-free cake due to allergies. It wasn’t a problem at all. The cake was supplied by local bakery Tom’s Cakes, and fully adapted so the session could feel exactly as intended without compromise.

This is a key part of how I work. No stress around sourcing. No last-minute changes. No worrying whether something will “work out on the day”.

If your little one has allergies or dietary requirements, I simply build that into the planning from the beginning so everything arrives ready to go and fully safe to use.

The focus stays where it should be: your child, the experience, and the memories being made.

There are newborn sessions that feel calm, and then there are sessions like this one.

Phoebe arrived, settled, and slept from the moment she came in until the moment she left. No interruptions, no resets, no coaxing. Just a completely settled little baby throughout the entire session.

Her big brother Oscar was equally effortless. Six years old, full of curiosity, gently stepping in and out of the session in exactly the right moments. The kind of sibling energy that doesn’t need direction, just space.

These are the sessions where everything aligns quietly in the background, and I’m reminded why I do what I do.

People often call it “baby whispering”. I’d say it’s more about patience, timing, and creating a space where babies and their siblings don’t feel the need to do anything other than be comfortable.

Phoebe made that part very easy.

POV: You finally remember to book a newborn photoshoot...

- Baby is 8 weeks old.
- You panic.
- Every photographer online says they only photograph babies under 3 weeks old.
- You think you've missed your chance.

Me: "When would you like to come in?"

Because, while very young newborns are ideal for those curled-up sleepy poses, older babies are still absolutely worth photographing.

In fact, at 8 weeks old you might capture:

✨ Little smiles
✨ Expressions
✨ Chubby cheeks
✨ Emerging personality

I met the sweetest little lady today.

This is baby Maelie, just 18 days old.

She came along to the studio with Mummy, Daddy and big sister Maia-Rose for her newborn session, and we spent the morning capturing those tiny details that change far too quickly.

The lovely thing about this session is that we're only halfway through. Next week, the rest of Maelie's big sisters will be joining us so we can complete their family gallery, and I genuinely can't wait to see them all again.

But for now, here's a little preview of this beautiful girl's first professional photographs ✨
