Hi friends – a little bit about Frontier Studio 🎬📸 the film / photography business I’ve been building for the past few years – where it came from and how it got here!

We are a creative partner helping ambitious organisations to find and tell the stories which matter most. Scotland-based, active everywhere 📍.

Built on years of working in elite sport content, we bring the same level of visual craft and strategic thinking to the worlds of Performance, Environment and Heritage – three focussed areas we feel the best stories are found 🏟️🌎🏰

We had the rare opportunity to team-up with an old friend this summer to produce some content together 🎥🎬 and we had the best time in production 🙏

Highlights included plenty of ‘corpsing’ or laughs when trying to deliver the correct lines to camera. As well as a few epic fails on the putts, drives and chips on the golf course. Unusually, in this case, the aim was actually to demonstrate bad shots and miss-hits – and instead, hitting the ball perfectly every single time 🙈

The lesson here is – sometimes you get so wrapped up in the job you’re doing, you forget to enjoy the experience of being on the shoot. Easily done when you have a thousand things to think about and client relationships to maintain.

Great reminder to bring positive energy, and make it fun, no matter how big or complex your project.

I find I often produce my best work when the environment is a positive one, and usually, so will everyone else.

The right environment can mean the difference between creating a film with impact, or one that doesn’t quite hit the mark.

The most valuable thing I’ve learned in nearly 10 years working around elite sport had nothing to do with videography or content design.

It was what great leadership is made of!

I spent years working in both the English Premiership and the Pro12/Pro14 (now the URC).

I can’t remember many conversations about camera settings. But I can remember lot’s about standards, accountability and culture.

It wasn’t learned through seminars or conferences, but through years of quiet observation.

Whether filming pro rugby matches or working in professional clubs, one thing always stood out.

The most successful teams aren’t driven by one dominant voice. They’re full of people who take ownership without waiting to be asked.

It improves communication, spreads responsibility and gives people permission to step forward.

The strongest leaders don’t create followers. They create more leaders!

Delighted to work with again ⛳️ helping them spread the word about their awesome facilities in Glasgow 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🔥 These guys are dedicated to their mission of making golf accessible to everyone, and this place is a breath of fresh air. We produced new visuals covering aerial photography 📸 video production 🎥 and a whole bank of branded social content with motion graphics⚡️. Great day out as always covering their 9 hole golf course, newly upgraded target driving range, adventure golf, POV walkthroughs as well as some general views of the site.

Visuals for private golf accommodation alongside the iconic Old Course⛳️🏠 we had only a two hour window to capture in the interior 😓 but we got some great shots. Breathtaking views over the Scores and West Sands and navigating some tricky drone restrictions from the local army base.
