Spotted an extremely rare visitor to the UK today, the Woodchat Shrike, locally to me. Very few have ever been recorded in the UK since records started being made. Particularly rare in the East of UK. Beautiful little bird. It caused quite a ripple amongst the twitcher fraternity

One of my other hobbies is metal detecting. Some days you find ring pulls and bottle tops and very occasionally you can find gems from the past, like this Queen Elizabeth 1st silver sixpence. Dated 1602, so it would have been buried in the farmer's field for over 400 years. Wow! Feels beautiful in the hand.
