An added bonus, received on my Lake District trip soon after Christmas last year. Red Squirrels are hard to find in UK, especially as they are threatened by their US origin counterpart, the grey squirrel. My earlier trips to Scotland and Brownsea island in search of Red Squirrel let to zero result. It was a surprise finding them in this secluded valley at the outskirts of Lake district.

Visited London zoo after a period of nearly 5 years. The animals have not changed but , looking at my last visit's photographs, i realized that my skills have changed...... and so has my perspective. I am pleased with what I have been able to do and hope that the next visit will give me more.

Some nice birds of prey. I am fascinated by Owls, especially with their eyes and their size.

Sub zero temperature, a thin sheet of ice over water, no sun, no sensation left in toes and fingers....... and all becomes worth it once you start reviewing the output of the day. Summer is not yet here, but at the end of the day ....... it seems it is.

A male Black buck is a magnificent animal, easily distinguishable by its coloring and outstanding antlers. Antlers have a spiral design on them and are used as weapons during courtship battles.

Humpback whales - around 18 meters long weighing about 30 Tonnes. Had wonderful opportunity to see them in their playful mood (family of 3) off the coast of Sydney. While it was difficult to capture the whole whale in one photo, hope these multiple photos gives you a sense of their enormity

Red Panda.... would remind some of us of 'Mowgli' days in Doordarshan. Its size was definitely bigger than the image that I had built in my mind over the years. But it still matched on the furryness and cuteness quotient, Nocturnal animal, so I could get this sleeping pose during the day.

Meerkats..... they really look great standing up and keeping an eye on whats going around (any threats) while their family/ pack searches for food. Loved the expression on their face

Looking through a lens, up-close and personal, and with no distractions.......... you discover that there is not really much of a difference. Some throw of dice, some random chance, separated the species. But the shadow of the similarity is visible.....once you look close enough
