Hello Lovely Likers!
As many of you know I removed the FB app from my phone which has meant I don't post very much on here anymore. If you have been wondering what I've been up to, well today I attempted to take some school pictures of the girls as they are both about to change schools, moving up to primary and up to secondary (aaaarrrggh!) and this is what happened!! Thanks girls 😂😂

In case anyone was in any doubt I LOVE MY JOB! I get to work with the most amazing people, this week I got to take pictures of artist Steve Alcock his aim being to turn my photo of him into a painting - no pressure Laura!!! What a brilliant project to be part of. So much fun taking Steve's pictures, they were taken specifically on my phone, which was strangely liberating.
Great to work with Steve and a privilege to be part of his creative process.

You may have noticed I've been a bit quiet on here lately, if you've been wondering what's been going on in Laura-Land well.... as ever if things are quiet on here they are usually very busy in the real world!
I've also removed the FB app from my phone and am making a conscious effort to be more present, less on my phone and less on social media, I have to say I am feelings so much better for it.

In other news, Saturday shoots have become limited to just mornings now, 'Team Scottorn' have a new challenge, SQUIRREL SCOUTS. We are now very proudly running the 1st Park Gate Squirrel Scouts for 4-5 year olds, with the most amazing team of leaders, parents and children. It's so exciting and we are incredibly proud of our little Squirrels, they are amazing. A few weeks ago we invested our first group. Hannah is an honorary Squirrel until she turns 4 but here is a picture I took of her having a practise at her promise.

This is the very lovely Louise Scanlon of 5 Storeys I got the pleasure of working with her earlier in the year. Such a genuinely lovely person, she is passionate about 5 Storeys, I love the ethos of it and there are some great products which are perfect for Christmas.

Where did 5 Storeys come from? This is a question I got asked recently and it made me realise that it's not something I've ever actually shared with you all. So today I thought I'd share with you why I started 5 Storeys... 😊

Before I joined the ranks of small businesses myself, I knew they were out there but I was oblivious to just how many incredible local and ethical businesses actually existed.

I wanted to make better choices in terms of where I spent my money as shopping ethically was something I felt strongly about, but I didn't really even know what options existed. And being perpetually busy made it difficult to find the time to search - 'easy' kept taking priority over 'right'. 😕

Once I started getting to know these wonderful people working hard and creating new and exciting products, I wanted to shout about them to everyone! But rather than upset half my Facebook friends by yelling aimlessly, I decided to do it in a way that made doing the right thing, the easy option for everyone and 5 Storeys was born! 😁

The 5 Storeys brand came about because I have very fond memories of wandering around - and getting lost in - massive department stores, marketplaces, bookshops and fabric warehouses as a child.

The more rabbit-warren like, the better as far as I was concerned.

I just loved the excitement of turning a corner and finding even more to explore! Christmas shopping into the dark evenings with my mum always felt like an adventure. (I still get ridiculously excited if I think I've found the perfect present for someone! 😆)

I want 5 Storeys to bring back some of the old-school values and fun of shopping but with up-to-date products and through the undeniable convenience that online offers.

I really hope that you enjoy your time shopping with us at 5 Storeys and I'm so happy to have you here! 🥰 Louise

I had to share this, I love this picture and think Chris and Karen are a wonderful couple. I had the loviest afternoon in their beautiful, tranquil, garden, oasis. They were a joy to spend time with and amazing to photograph. Thank you Karen for allowing me to share this.

Happy bank holiday!
How is everyone's summer going?
Are you all having fun?

I've had lots of shoots this summer, loads of diversity, which I love! The summer started with my annual shoot with Brookfield Community School, taking pictures for their prospectus. There's been a studio session with the students of Studio Unique Dance School, beach shoot, family session at a marina, shoots with my school, headshots, branding and today a teeny we**ie brand new baby with her mummy and daddy, so squidgy and gorgeous.

I've been testing out a slightly warmer look in the studio with my smallest silly sausage, Hannah-Elsa. Here are her and my favourites.
