I just wanted to sit with this for a second before sharing.

I got the email last week, but I wanted to take the time to think about what it actually meant.

Was it really all that important?
Would people call it a vanity award?

But this month I’ve been doing a lot of work on not being ashamed to be seen (Practising what I preach in my business), and I think that’s exactly why I’m sharing it.

I’m a finalist (and proud of it) for Best Business Branding AND Best Photographer at The Leading Awards 2026.

Two categories, after years of building this one shoot at a time with no roadmap, just a camera and a stubborn belief I could make something real. This year that finally started to click - pun 100% intended.

I never started this business for a trophy or an award. I did it for the business owners who sat across from me feeling awkward in front of a camera and walked away with images that finally looked like the brand they’d built.

Or the couples that dreaded the idea of being the centre of attention and creating an experience they could enjoy and be present in their moments.

That’s literally my job. This is just the industry noticing the work behind it.
So, I am not ashamed, not downplaying it.

Just proud, and letting myself say so.

Want to know what it’s like to work with little old me?

It really starts with preparation, getting to know you, your business, your goals, and the personality you want to shine through. From there, we build a plan together around that vision, not a generic shot list.

Then it’s all about creating an environment where we can create together, the right location, the right playlist, the right amount of coffee. We keep a clear purpose in mind, but there’s always room for fun and creativity along the way.

You’ve never looked awkward in a photo. You’ve felt awkward in a photo, and that’s not your fault!!

Settle in this is a bit of a long one.

I’ve had this conversation more times than I should have this year, and it really makes me sad and angry.

People are taught to feel uncomfortable in front of the camera, and it’s out responsibility as photographers to help them feel safe, feel comfortable and feel seen.

I am so cross at the photographers out there that do not take this responsibility seriously. What we do can really affect the self esteem of others and wits not our job just to take photos, it’s our job to help them unlearn the “un-photogenic” myth.

Every one can take a beautiful photos, everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect.

Look, I get it. Sometimes you make a choice, and then you see my work and realize... oh. 😅
