Let's talk Llamas & wedding previews! All of my couples get a preview of their gallery, and I like to get that out to you as soon as possible. This past year or so I've been trying to do it at your wedding! When there's a quiet moment between events, I take out my laptop, find some images, edit, and upload, all before I leave for the night.

Izzie & Conor really wanted to have a preview as soon as they could, they had images they could share with loved ones before they finished their main course!

It's always such an honour to be a part of someone's wedding day, and to be able to help you share that joy with everyone you love in the form of photos brings me such immense joy!

Most importantly at Izzie & Conor's wedding though - Llamas!!

This is just snipper from their preview, Instagram doesn't like mixing portrait and landscape images...

Congratulations Izzie & Conor! I'm already working on your full gallery!

Things I don't charge extra for as a wedding photographer - Drone photography. A bird's eye view of your ceremony, portraits across the water, incredible shots of your venue and group photos. It's a pretty unique angle you get from a drone!

When you're planning a wedding, everything seems like it's an extra charge, but as a wedding photographer there are a lot of things I don't charge extra for, and drone photography where it's allowed and possible is one of them.

I love getting to use the drone to capture something different and show off where you got married and where you had your portraits done in a super fun way.

Big news, and big thank yous to everyone who has posted a wonderful review of me and my work.

I've hit twenty 5 star reviews on Google, and that is just amazing! Thank you so much to everyone who has posted a review from working together.

Being a photographer is a dream come true for me, and working as a creative is the most amazing thing in the world for me, but having the people I've photographed post such amazing and kind things is overwhelming and just the most wonderful thing!

Bring on the 2025 season!

I absolutely adore a good confetti shot! There is a bit of a trick to making a great one like this, and it's having a little section of your guests at the end of the line up hold on to their confetti, I usually go for 6-10 (or more if you have a lot of guests!) hang on to their confetti, and then have them throw it all at once for this amazing effect of it raining cofetti!

This wedding was simply Gorgeous, James & Michelle had an amazing day, scroll through to the end for the best surprise ever from a wedding reception. SWORD FIGHTING! Yes, they had two knights at their wedding, competing with swords, inches from their guests. It was really something let me tell you.

Let’s talk wedding dresses, and dress photos! I’m curious what you think, do they matter? Do you like them? Is it something you want?

To me capturing your dress is really important, it’s such a huge part of your day, it’s something you spent a lot of time, effort, and energy to choose, it should be photographed and celebrated!

But after reading a bunch of reddits - does it matter to you to have a photo of your dress?

Drones and weddings, how do we feel about it? Personally, I love it! I love the perspective you get, it’s kinda fun, you get EVERYONE in a photo, and if you do it right, guests don’t even know it’s there.

At this wedding I had a guest come up to me and ask when the drone was going up, his face when I told him it had already been up twice and he’d missed it was utter shock. He said he didn’t hear a thing and hadn’t noticed it at all.

They’re also super fun to fly and kind of just a bit of a very fun toy so there is that, I might be a little biased…

Ugh, if you want to feel like a kid again, grab yourself a sparkler! If you're planning a sparkler edit, absolutely hit me up! I want to photograph this again, and again, and again!

Sparklers give this gorgeous warm light, and you get to play around and have fun with them while I do my very best not to get burnt by your half drunk guests - so we're all playing a game, kind of...

Tips for a sparkler exit -

1. Make sure it's going to be full dark when you plan to do your sparkler exit. After sunset you have what's called blue hour, which is this dim, soft, blue light after the sun has dipped below the horizon, and it's very bright compared to a sparkler, so you need to wait for full dark for it to have the effect.

2. If you're having your day in the winter, this is less of a problem. In the summer your sunset is later, so full dark is later, and it's likely your guests with have enjoyed that open bar you put on... So have someone you trust, or your event manager, someone, check how drunk people are before giving them a sparkler or a lighter!!

3. Have fun, giggle, play around, have a pretend sword fight with your partner using the sparklers, have a kiss, have a lap run around your guests, make sure have some fun with it!

4. Anticipate needing two sparklers per person, you can get away with giving some people 1 if you have more guests than expected, and expect to have around 25-30 guests for good lighting like in these photos - not everyone has two sparklers in this photo just as a guide, there are a few people right next to me out of shot too!

5. Have more lighters than you think you need. There is nothing worse than one lighter going around a circle of 30 people so the last sparkler gets lit just as the first one goes out! I'd say have as many as you can, but one lighter per five to right people should work just fine... but ideally 5 so you have more time to play around than you have waiting on someone to get that bic lighter to actually hold a flame.

Portraits at noon? No problem! Shooting portraits when the sun is at its highest doesn't make for the easiest or most flattering light (at least not always).

If you're looking into the sun you will no doubt be squinting, or struggling to keep your eyes open, and the shadows under your eyes get quite exaggerated. If you have your back to the sun you get a lovely halo effect as you're backlit, you need to be careful to balance the settings so the face isn't so dark it can't be saved in post, and the sky or background isn't so bright that it can't be save either! So it never looks good in camera, but after some tweaking, it can be great!

If you want that editorial magazine fashion type of look, then absolutely, try some portraits at noon. If you want a lot of options with lovely soft light, try early in the morning, afternoon and even better, golden hour!

These were taken right around noon, but we had plenty of tree cover and shade which diffuses the light and makes it much easier to work with, so you have a lot more options for posing and working at that time of day.

These exits are some of the most chaotic fun you have as a wedding photographer, and I absolutely love them! You get all kinds of expressions from the crowd from happy to 'oh now I just launched a handful of petals at the groom's face!' and there is nothing more fun than this semi organized chaos!

Capturing these beautiful fun moments is one of those things I immediately think of when people ask me why I'm a wedding photographer. These moments are what has you hooked on wedding photography!
