The Dunfermline peacocks hold the official Freedom of the City.

While it was long rumoured locally that they had been granted the “Freedom of the Town” back in 1907, historians couldn’t find any official paperwork to prove it. After Dunfermline was officially granted city status by Queen Elizabeth II in 2022, local wardens and council members pushed to make their status official.

In August 2024, the peafowl of Pittencrieff Park were formally awarded the Freedom of the City Scroll, making them the very first recipients of the honour in Dunfermline’s history.

Dunfermline Abbey was expanded in 1128 by David I, who built its magnificent Romanesque nave. Following the Reformation, a new parish church was erected on the ruins between 1818 and 1821; today, this active church houses the historic royal tombs of St Margaret and Robert the Bruce.

Great to get back out doing photography again. First photo walk in what feels like forever. A little rusty so please be kind.

Your new life is going to cost you your old one. It’s going to cost you your comfort zone and your sense of direction. It’s going to cost you relationships and friends. It’s going to cost you being liked and understood. But it doesn’t matter. Because the people who are meant for you are going to meet you on the other side.

Had to sneak in a little
