Solihull Photographic Society Solihull Photographic Society is a local friendly club which welcomes members of all experience

We have weekly meetings, from September to May, with a lively and varied programme of external speakers, club competitions, workshops and practical events. We also have a range of other activities during the summer months including "photowalks" at local venues

Our members have a wide range of experience and interests. A number have achieved high awards in National and International Exhibitions,

but we are also keen to encourage and support those with less experience to help them improve their photography. Whatever type of camera you have, if you are interested in photography come and see what we can offer.

AND, WE'RE OFF... Our new and very special 90TH SEASON starts in just two weeks on Wednesday, 2nd September with “THE FULL MONTY “ by STEVEN FAIRBROTHER
Steven is a freelance graphic designer and photographer, who loves the outdoors. He has achieved success in both British Wildlife Photography Awards and the Take a View Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards. This talk will feature predominantly wildlife and landscape photography, but also including drone, aviation, macro and architectural images, this talk aims to have SOMETHING FOR EVERYBODY. It also includes videos taken with a DSLR and drone. You’ll hear the stories behind the images, what he was hoping to achieve and how he went about it. In July 1936, two local photographers Donald Allen and David Jewsbury, realised that unlike many other towns, there was no photographic society in Solihull at that time. Donald was a professional photographer who had a studio in an old house on the site of what is now the (soon to be demolished) Warwick Road Car park. David was a keen amateur photographer. They put an advert in the Solihull News inviting anyone who was interested in photography to a meeting where it was subsequently agreed to set up the Solihull Photographic Society.

90 years later photographic equipment may have changed, but the Society is still thriving and continues to support all those interested in photography. We start our new 90th anniversary season on 2nd September with an exciting programme of events. If you are interested in photography, whatever your level of experience, come and try us out.

Just spent some time in Picos de Europe (in Northern Spain). This is a panoramic taken at Covadonga (https://maps.app.goo.gl/dWW59LmKdmVH6SAa6) - the only way in is by effectively a road wide enough for a bus or minibus and no cars allowed. The area is an eco sanctuary, in that no swimming is allowed in the lakes, and take ins need to be taken out etc. Beautiful place! Simon Hague
