Day 3 of the November Social Challenge from The Wedding Business Club -
✨When did you start your business? ✨
Although I had been photographing weddings for about 7 years already, my official start date for the business was at the end of 2019, just before Covid 🤦♀️😂
✨ What prompted you to start it? ✨
I had my daughter in April 2019 which is a huge experience to give birth to another human. Within weeks of her being born, my Nan was diagnosed with terminal cancer. By the end of August 2019 my Nan had sadly passed away.
I’d experienced, first-hand, both a birth and a death only months apart. It felt very poetic to me that I had witnessed someone begin their life, and equally witnessed the end of someone’s life. It made me feel very humbled and I realised just how precious life is.
For me, a lightbulb moment, for the relatively small amount of time I was alive, I wanted to do something that I truly loved, was naturally gifted in and made other people happy.
✨ Who helped you? ✨
I have my entire family and friends to thank for supporting me to make the decision to turn my hobby into a business. They always used to say I should do it full time and I never believed that I could make it work.
When I first started to photograph weddings, my Nan got me my first new camera and told me to just go for it. Since then, I’ve worked tirelessly to give my clients a brilliant experience and images that they can love for a lifetime.
