Does the thought of standing still, missing your drinks reception, while you wait for random family members to appear beside you for their designated slot in the group photos fill you with dread? It doesn’t have to be this way! You don’t have to do any, if you don’t want to.
Focus your time on enjoying yourself, greeting guests together, actually talking to your loved ones and your gallery will be full of authentic, joyful images without even trying.
When we stage moments, we miss the real experience of being in them. Having the freedom to enjoy these moments means more fun, less pressure and better photos. And as a photographer that means I have the time to capture more of these moments too!
Some tips if you want the best candid style gallery for your wedding day -
👉🏻 Make sure you actually do spend time together. It might make sense to divide and conquer during drinks to speak to everybody but before you know it you’ve spent the whole day apart!
👉🏻 Allow space in your timeline to be present. Feeling rushed will make the day fly by and you won’t have been able to relax and make the most of it and feeling relaxed is the key to great photos!
👉🏻 Embrace the weather, no matter what. Sometimes the worst weather makes the best photos.
👉🏻 Let your photographer know if you have any VIP guests (I mean grandparents, parents, nieces/nephews or kids - not celebrities!) that mean a lot to you so they can pay them due care and attention!
👉🏻 Pick a photographer you trust that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed (hopefully me 😎)
👉🏻 Enjoy your day! If you’ve got live music - listen to it, food - eat it, special drinks - drink them, games - play them. If you’re on the dance floor, chances are your guests will be too!
