So on the 30th of December I got to witness two of my favourite bands come together for a one off spectacular at the Dove and Rainbow. Here's my review of the night along with some pics i took:
"Fear The City is a combined effort, both Steal The City & Fear Lies members joining forces for a one off, chaos ensuing night of music, booze and fun.
The super-group was made up of Joe Hanson (Guitar/Vocals) Ellis Bullement (Drums) of Steal The City as well as Tim McNeill (Guitar/Vocals) and Daniel Eades (Bass) of Fear Lies. The set consisted of a variety of hits from both acts, including 'Wallflower' 'Banshee' 'My Beating Heart and 'Army Of You' even featuring a sweet cover of Jimmy Eat World's big hit 'The Middle' to get the crowd totally invested in the set.
Throughout you could tell the guys were enjoying every second of performing together, it's an unusual opportunity for band members to take on, which is why I think it worked pretty damn well. Admittedly there was the odd mistake here and there, but that's natural when you're performing songs that are new to you in front of an eager crowd, full of fans & friends who all came out with the intention of enjoying their favourite songs, it was certainly unusual having two totally different vocalists to what you're used to, however Joe and Tim more than held their own on the mic.
The set finished with Steal The City frontman Sam Bantock making a guest appearance on vocals during set closer 'Last Goodbye' a great way to finish off a good set from all involved, an enjoyable experience from the get-go, both bands have a big year lined up & tonight was the chaotic send off to 2016, a year which saw them gain serious momentum."
