Summer is fading but Autumn is coming!

There’s something special about that brief moment between seasons. The greens begin to change, mornings feel cooler, and the Peak District starts to take on a completely different character.

For wildlife and landscape photography, it’s one of my favourite times of year! rutting deer, misty valleys, golden light and the first hints of autumn colour.

A new season of moments to chase.

We seem to have flashed forward into Autumn! A few more pics from my time with the heather. Overall it was better than expected, considering all the heatwaves!

I hope you enjoyed your time out there!

Wow! What a way to end a week exploring the Peak during heather season!

There’s no heather here, but I’ll take the mists and temperature inversion conditions!

It was one of those mornings where you plan to go somewhere, but as you get out, you see the potential conditions and then think of all the shots at other locations! This is a bucket shot of mine to get an inversion lower down in the valley with Thors Cave overlooking the “clouds”. It didn’t quite work out from inside for me, but it was still magical to see this scene with these conditions. Thank you to the chap and his dog. I think you guys really add to this and hope your phone pic came out well. If you see this and want a copy, please get in touch!

When I went on top of the cave, that feeling I get from many locations around Hope Valley came, and it’s just incredible that feeling of being on an island in the sky surrounded by clouds.

I got some use of my drone finally, which has been collecting dust, and the view was wonderful! I could see hot air balloons in the distance and landmarks poking through the mists.

I’m a bit of a fantasy geek, and scenes like this are so close to what we see in the movies and read in books. It’s so easy to write off everything as AI now, but there really is a beautiful world with stunning conditions out there; it just takes some patience, very early mornings at this time of year, and some luck!

After the highs of that morning, there is unfortunately the reality: loads of rubbish just chucked in front of the cave entrance and in places that are very steep and hard to get to. I don’t know how anyone in their right mind would come here and see these stunning views and then think it’s okay to do that!

Bit late to , but I thought I’d sneak this on from today’s adventures! There was some decent light, but it soon started to dip under the clouds. This cloud I thought looked really good and a similar size to , so I waited for it to drift over the top catching the last bit of light.

Hope you had a great day with the camera if you were out! It’s great to see so many getting into Photography these days and taking a stand against AI slop!

More from last Friday evenings incredible sunset! It was well worth the climb and powerful wind gusts at the top!

The weather has taken a dull turn but it gives me chance to keep on top of editing and plan my next trip!
