Silent Lightning ⚡

Following on from my previous post, As the storms pushed Southeast at sunset, something incredible happened.

A lightning storm, likely over 15 miles away, was lit up by the setting sun. This created something I have never been lucky enough to witness before! It was absolutely surreal, there was absolutely no sound of the lightning striking, just complete silence.

Nothing short of spectacular!

Edge Of The Storm ⛈️

The build up to the storms on the evening of 26th May, gave us some incredible sights I've never witnessed before.

The clouds started off in their Cumulus phase, quickly transforming into Cumulus Congestus, which ultimately transformed into fully developed Cumulonimbus clouds. Safe to say I was stunned at the rate these clouds changed and developed!

Being on the edge of the storm was an unreal experience, seeing the clouds roll across and burst up into the sky upwards of 40,000 to 50,000ft was breathtaking!

Another from Padley Gorge, Derbyshire. This time down by the fast flowing, Burbage Brook. 🍁

I got here early, in complete darkness, to scout a prime spot for some long exposure photography. Although the sunrise didn't materialise, there was a bit of atmosphere about in the Gorge to make for a lovely photo.

Having the place to myself was a bonus, I could sit, relax, and appreciate the area until the light came.

Ethereal Autumn 🍂

📍Padley Gorge, Derbyshire

This was my first time visiting this beautiful spot in Derbyshire at the start of November. I was treated to a really atmospheric morning, with quite a bit of fog clinging to the twisted trees, giving an ethereal feel to the scene.

Thank you for watching!
