To commemorate victory over Japan day, 75 years ago today. Here is a fascinating image from our archives. During the war Eric Bellwood served as a photographer in the RAF with fighter commands, 10 Group in the Exeter area, Where he was the Sergent in charge of the section. The photograph was taken in a nissan hut, which housed the department. The photographic team where quietly celebrating the end of the war, having just listened to the news on the BBC. Eric is on the right, the shot was taken with a clock work self timer ( long before self timing smart phones appeared! ).
